How To Pack and Prepare for a Gravel Race with Ted King at the Oklahoma Gravel Growler.
Спорт
Welcome to gravel 2020! The King of Gravel, Ted King, is here to show you how to pack and prepare for your upcoming gravel event.
Sure, there are likely gravel events right down the road from you. There are also a whole bunch of showcase events all around the country that will take more than just a quick road trip to attend. Ted's experience over the past five years will save you time and reduce your pre-event headache as you pack and prepare for your upcoming gravel adventure.
With a child on the way, Ted has always appreciated efficiency, but is about to get schooled in it. With a very busy year ahead, he's seeking that efficiency with an early start to the season at the Oklahoma Gravel Growler in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Featuring a trip across the country, a birthday celebration or two, this video also includes tips on seeking out the best coffee shop or restaurant, how to make your own coffee and pre-race breakfast, and much much more.
With his videographer good friend Ansel Dickey of Vermont Social on board, this Vermont duo travels from home in the northeast to Oklahoma to kick the season into gear.

You are one down to earth dude, Ted. Thanks for helping grow gravel.
Ansel, while I really enjoyed last years video’s I liked this one even better. It is interesting to see the evolution of your editing, looking forward to seeing what you put together this year.
Need to give your video production team a raise! The quality of these videos is outstanding and has come such a long way from what the channel has looked like over a year ago. Bravo for their hard work and capturing the moment!
0:09 Seconds in and Ted is grabbin' a beer. The man has his priorities straight!

Congrats Herb! You're going to have a blast.
Congrats for your birthday and for win the race too
Awesome video, grats on the win and happy bday dude!
We rent a van (my wife and I, no kids) every time we have to get a rental car. They are the best thing ever when traveling with bikes.
Thanks for the hot tips! Congrats on the win and on baby king!
Ragin' content; thanks for all the gravel inspiration, Mr. King.
I love how in gravel you can have a social and smash a bunch of beers and still win the day after.
Happy Birthday to the King! Solid tips! Peace.
Wholesome video Ted!
Great video. What gravel racing is all about. Fun, friends, and beer.
Same here Ted, ride bikes and drink beer sounds like a good life for me.
The production work is always outstanding, I can't imagine the effort editing this, and the frustration of wondering what to cut, and what to show. The opening scene is brilliant, complete with collapsing on the bed in the final frame. Anybody who travels long distances to events can relate to this. Congrats on the race too, it's encouraging to have an accomplished, (and most eloquent) local rider representing our sport. Great job all around!
This footage is top notch thanks for the effort and quality this channel will grow and grow once the word is out! I will try to spread :)
A great comprehensive list, I'm adding the mouth cover/buff to my list for the dryer races thanks to this video. A couple things I've added to my pack list, pickle juice (I add extra salt) because I'm prone to cramping at the 4-hour mark. Sunscreen (small amount on the bike), Recovery protein shake for immediately post-ride (sometimes the food line is long, occasionally events run out of food) and I like to slam some protein immediately post-race.
This made me happy.
Happy belated birthday 🎁
Ooh, an invite to Ted Kings 40th birthday, awesome 😸
Woooo what happened to the production turn it up to 11!! Next level stuff love it!
It's good to be the King.
Really enjoyed the video. I will be in Stillwater in a couple weeks for the Mid S 50. Looking forward to my 2nd race, I did the DK50 a couple years ago.
When this social distancing thing is over I'm headed down to Stillwater to get a hug from Bobby.

Happy birthday 🎉🎈🎂
thanks for helping out noobs!
Man I wish I would’ve known about this race at the time. Will be there 2021 if it happens!
Nice🤙😎
Cool video. I mean, I'm almost 40, I do road bike for fun but I'm very serious because I noticed it improved my health in many ways but I have that guilty pleasure after a ride: the f..... beeeeeer!!!!!! Keep these cool videos coming. I'm sick of training, nutrition, ftp, vo2, aero stuff, I want to see the fun part of cycling. BTW: any change of gravel races close to Indiana?
Get back on that slate lad 💪
What saddle bag do you use? Great vid & HBD! .
Style Points for the 'Ham Burgler' kit, all it need are some black Oakleys
What a great video. in south african style, ek wens ek was daar..(meaning, i wish i was there), love bear and racing bikes.
Thanks! Are you checking out the True Grit gravel race in Utah?
The stainless steel aeropress filters work great for me.

@@fernpeck I agree. I don't know what the paper adds, but I like the paper filters better.

@@TedKing1 True, but for me it doesn't taste different enough to justify dragging a stack of paper filters around the country with me. And once I ran out of paper filters, I was too lazy to buy new ones. My laziness has served me well throughout most of my life, I've learned to trust it.
It would be awesome to see you at Iron Bull Red Granite Grinder 2020. A great ride by fun folks doing good things for the Wausau community. 2020 is the second year of the ride. It is as fresh as it gets! Check it out.

@@TedKing1 Wow! What a wonderful thing to do. Brain injuries are so underrepresented in our discussions about healthcare and therefore very misunderstood. My sister and I both deal with health issues related to TBI's. I am registered for the Red Granite Grinder 2020 but see I can support your ride by being a "Virtual Rider". I will do that this year and put your ride on my 2021 ride list. L8R
I got my minivan reserved for DK...should I train too, or is the minivan enough to ensure my success? :D Cool content bro.
Ted, what bike box do you use in the video or recommend - don’t recognise it? Thx
That will do it
What’s the orange bike I keep seeing you use ? Is it the superx force 1 ?
Protect ya' neck!
.... so who else is excited for Cabo?
7:14 That guy was like "Damn, I should have worn civilian clothes".
Which Bike bag case are you using?....Thanks
Hi, what type of bike case do you use?

That was a CVS special. I think $0.99. She's a real beaut!
1:54 I say this tip aged well
1. Amazon is the devil, so good on you. 2. Every time I watch a video like this I get pumped about going to do these events and support them, but then I look at my bank account and realize that I can barely afford to pay for the events that are local :-/.
is there a cannabis plant at your neck protection? love it

@@TedKing1hahahaha yeah, at first I thought it was weed. Would've been nice to see some stoner pro cyclists, but I guess UCI doesn't even allow it, right?! hahaha Cheers mate
Its sad how there are "big names" in an event that the world doesn't care about.
