How to organize your leather tools - VLOG

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I've been waiting for a long time to get our tools and supplies organized properly. We grabbed some storage racks from Harbor Freight for hardware and of course used some leather to hang up some tools.
And don't forget to post about your workspace. I can't wait to see em:) Use #meetmyworkspace

I have 2 desks back to back in my living room and I love em - my 4 desk drawers were a mess with tools rolling around in there and the latest thing to go in there was a cutlery tray for the drawer and now everything is organised - YAY!!

Suggestion on the bins...hot glue a piece of whatever small hardware you have in each bin to the front so you can immediately see whats in that bin.

I use similar bins for hardware that I bought at home depot. Mine have 10 bins to a rack and the racks are stackable. They work pretty well although I don't have min in the most convenient location to my work space. I use a wooden tool rack for most of my tools but the bigger stuff is either in a tool box or hung on the wall. I have a very small work space with only about 5' of usable work bench, this makes cutting double shoulders or sides a bit of a challenge. Next house will have a dedicated leather shop.

Looks awesome! As far as an idea or a hack goes, if nobody has mentioned it... For your head knife, and skiving knives you could use a magnetic tool holder and screw to the wall. I believe harbor freight caries them as well. It may help eliminate having to mess with snaps and a small strap. Just an idea...

My hack is to make each step of my process a kit... that I can bring out, and put back completely as a block. My desk is only 12 by 18 inches... so I only use what I’m working on at one time... however I’m bad for having a pile to the right that is mixed discarded... and I have to stop and clear that out every few days. Or I quickly get unable to sit at my desk.

Idea is good but those bin's you just hung up, well the plastic bin's get brittle over time and will eventually crack a the hook section in the back. One day i went in my shop and some bins broke off and parts all over the floor. So I went back to harbor freight and switched them out with the yellow bin's they are much stronger! Az Harbor Freight took my old ones back and I just paid the difference!! Just thought I would throw this out there!! Nice shop by the way!!

I am slowly working on setting up my leather shop after moving to our new home. Using the huge upstairs game/family room. My kid is grown and my wife and I don't spend time up there, so it makes a perfect place to work. Any advice or ideas on how to organize the hundreds of punches, stamps, and other tools without taking up table space?

You thought your tool organization was bad before hand, you should see mine right now ha ha, I have to do my leather work in my bedroom because that's the only space that is air conditioned (and heated for winter) that keeps it out of everyone's view since my family's garage is pretty crammed (due to my sister not really putting her apartment stuff in a storage unit). Lol

OMG! I LOVE YOUR HOUSE!!! I hate where we live. Not really the place. But, all of the homes are alike. Well they are like 4 styles. A cape cod(our old house) A traditional 2 story( our current house). A tudor/ storybook house(I lived in one in Germany. They are too dark) Or a bungalow. Why do they ave bungalows in O.H.? Actually I lied. There are a handful of transitionals or log cabins. But they are few and far between. And of corse those are the ones I love!
