Thank you! This was very helpful. Today, I lost the power, and my car was in my garage. Thanks to this presentation, I was able to free my car, and later on, re-engage my automatic remote.

Thanks so much. Couple door rollers went off track on one side. Moved the garage manually and got the rollers back on track. BUT for the life of me I could not get the door latch to go back to automatic. Thanks to your video I saw I needed to pull the cord towards the garage door to set it up to latch. Thanks a ton!

A problem that no one is addressing is that there should be a safety handle built into these new steel doors. This weekend , in the dark , I accidentally, inserted my fingers into the open slots between the metal sheets trying to manually bring it down , and it crushed my fingers. Thankfully and quickly, I pushed up . I have bruised numb fingers right now, but thankful not broken or amputated !

This is great but no where do I see the car in the garage when trying to manually trying to grab the red string. Our electricity went out and our minivan was in the garage, the red string above it and at the length of the string nearly impossible without a ladder to grab it. Got any solutions for this? I extended the string but now it hangs down waiting to snag on something on the van.

Hi! Thanks for the video. My detached garage does not have an exterior door. We have to enter/exit through the garage door. The power went out when we experienced an earthquake and all of our emergency supplies are in the garage. :0 This may be a silly question but, is there a way to manually open the door from the outside when there is no power to the automatic garage door???

God you guys always doing that. You can "just do it" yes. It's better with a helper but I've lifted it up and propped it. The world's not always a perfect safe place. Be careful when you set it down. it's not easy to get it all the way down and hard closes damage panels. I suggest you put something down about 6" tall to catch it so you can rest and get a better low grip.

Take the string and locate the spring-loaded hook on the trolley, where it was originally, and slide it through the small hole above the end and tie a little knot in it. It should fall back into position.

I'm doing this to fix my garage door. However, when I go to lift it manually it smacks up against the metal black bar that the slide is on and I can't lift it any farther or get it to fold up like usual to slide along the track I've checked the rails and everything seems to be aligned properly it's just that the garage door smacks up against the bar. Does anyone know why this is? By the way I'm needing to do this as the previous springs broke from old age (~20yrs) and I'm now replacing them. I need to lift the garage door manually to get the one end of the new springs over the metal hoop at the end of the rail Please advise. Thanks!

You may need to have one or both of the springs (which help the door hold its weight) professionally repaired or replaced. Don't try to do this yourself since the springs can be very dangerous. In the mean time, prop the door open with a board or have someone else carefully hold it up while you enter or exit.

ok so apparently, prob depending on model, it matters which position you leave the pull string attachment in. the vid says to pull forward or simply use the remote but that kept dropping the door after a 2 seconds. i just figured out that i had to leave that pull string pulled forward but positioned backwards if that makes sense? hope this helps someone!
