What is your go to compact lighting kit?

what is the name of your phone app ?
My only change would have been to separate the chair/subjects from the background but other than that it looks really good

I agree, that "pressed-up against the wall" look isn't really my preferred method, I try to opt for more depth. Still, Piotr makes it look good anyhow!
When you say “I only have 5 minutes left” I get so stressed haha! Bravo!

I do it in part because I learned from KZread and I want to give back. Thank you for supporting the channel!
Honestly, I was not in love with that corner. I always try to create some separation with space... but this worked out nicely. Really good work. Especially for the job, and I like that you focus on what gear for what jobs. If the client is paying for the larger production, you bring it and if not, you keep things running small.

I am mainly a live music photographer in the Dallas area looking to get into commerical video work like you do. Your content is invaluable! Thank you!

I appreciate that! This keeps me going!
What I have done in this type of space is to allow the room to be the set. I would have set a regular chair close to where your POV cam was. I would have open the blinds a little to create a natural backlight or kicker. As much as I hate shooting into a confined corner, your shots didn't look bad at all. It did give off an intimate feeling. Good stuff!
Great video! Always love seeing the breakdown of the jobs you are on. What is the light meter app you use?

Very powerful light!
My go-to light is my Godox VL300 (Godox's version of the original Aputure 300D). If I have the room, then I use it with a Glow cloth "Beauty Dish," which is basically a large octa that does have a removable deflector plate (which I always remove) and two layers of diffusion. BTW: I had been looking at some more light-weight stands that would still have a rated 20-pound capacity, and I have found some Impact LS-96HABI stands which are avilable USED for about $35. No, not as sturdy as my Kupo Turtle-base C Stands, but they are pretty robust and have a wide footprint, which can be either a good or bad thing. I am pretty confident that if any of the knobs or rivets or anything like that breaks on the Impact stands, I can replace those parts from parts available at the local hardware store.
Just of curiosity I see the cast on your wrist. Is that arthritis or an injury? I ask because sometimes I wear one when my arthritis flares up

TBH ,I would have taken the 6 seconds to drag that chair way out from the wall , Its a pretty decent location really , I think I might have gone with your first choice of the fire place corner of the room . I light all my interviews with one light and usually neg fill . Either Intellytech Mega 6 or Mega 4. North facing window in a box :)

Way out from the wall would result in the gear being in the way of the broll that followed each interview. 30min interview 30min broll. That 6 seconds would turn into many minutes of lost time.
How to deal with the modifier reflecting on the guest glasses?
@PDMokry
Ай бұрын
First trick is to raise the light. Grids can help too. Then I get subject to lift glasses off ears tilting the angle down.
Love the F22c but the fan is ridiculously loud. I always have to run the extension.

I recently got the F22c and was curious about that. The fan is noisy, but no more than a 200x s. I assume if he wasn't using the boom it would be an issue.
@pdboudreau

@@nolepholife2843 I had the F21C but sent it back as I need more output. Want it for a key, but need lots of diffusion. Was going to get the F22C, but am concerned about the fan noise. Not much in the F21C, but it didn't have to dissipate as much heat. Are you finding this to be a problem? I'm doing interviews much like this one.
@nolepholife2843

@@pdboudreau it comes with an extension cord for the head unit, so the control unit can be moved further away from any mics (if it is an issue). It's just an extra hassle. I have F21x also and that makes no sound. I recently got a pavoslim (60c and 120b) and it is surprisingly bright for the amount of wattage. I would opt for a scrim to make a larger source. If there is a fan, I can't hear it.
@pdboudreau

@@nolepholife2843 Been thinking about Nanlite a lot recently. The Pavoslims get a LOT of great reviews. Also, most of their latest Bicolor lights have great light quality and G/M adjustment. How's the app? Siduslink is the one reason I'm sticking with Amaran/Aputure.
F22 takes too much time to setup softbox, I use Sirui inflatable 2x2 and it auto inflates and then deflates instantly
@PDMokry
Ай бұрын
That is a huge drawback with the light, take a bit to build it out.
@Loftikaz
Ай бұрын
@@PDMokry yes thus i returned it, it discouraged me from building it everytime which defeats the purpose of quick fast lightweight light thus I bought the Sirui and it's a life saver built in softbox infaltes in 1min and it's rain resistant (not the box tho) I got the 200W rgbww version, the only downside i found in the carry bag they offer the zip broke in couple months use.
Would you consider the amaranth 22c a hard or soft light source and does that make a difference to you when you decide to use it vs. a soft box?
What percent did you have your Amaran light on?

Yes, absolutely! Thank you for the support!
You know what though, I don't have any "portable" compact lights just yet other than a couple of Enegon LED blocks I can throw into my softbox but otherwise My Godox sk400 with a lighter stand or cstand is as close as I can get. Great light too I have a daylight LED corn cob in it and does wonders. Less is so much more I'm glad to see minimalistic setups! Also i don't think you lied or anything about "one light setup". In essence you DID set up with one light, the lamp was a natural light bonus perse. No lies found lol. Question, the other side where the fireplace was, was it too dark just for background or you didn't want to raise ISSO or so? Just curious in details that's all.
What app do you use for the lighting app?
What is the app called that you’re using as a light meter?

No offence bud.... but the fact that you didn't move that chair at least 5 or 6ft away from the wall in to the centre of the room tells me you need to conduct more interviews and perhaps view some more interview tutorials that are not your own. Good luck though.
