    @@teamoildrop Oil change was a bit messy due to a sloped driveway, but got it done. Glad to be doing it myself because the dealership must've used the air-ratchet on the filter housing. Too many ugga duggas on that thing! Swapped over to the Fumoto valve for the drain plug, and I also swapped the filter housing for the Jowett Performance housing. Worth the money to not fiddle with the plastic drain nozzle!

    Just a thought, buy a tarp just big enough to fit under front of truck and then get some cardboard to lay flat on top of that so fluids that spatter won't mess up that new looking driveway. My driveway has about same degree down angle. I used same set up with same ramps and it makes my vehicles level. I also decided to go with a Baxter Performance oil filter adapter kit. I don't like the canister system Toyota uses and I don't like how small the OEM filter media is for 7 quarts of oil (necessary amount once I converted to the Baxter system and using large spin on filter). So glad I found this channel as I like DIY for my 2020 taco trd off-road

    A good idea but not something I have needed to buy... however when I lived in hawaii... glass breaks were everywhere. In hindsight I would have got it back then. I'm extra careful these days to leave nothing of perceivable value in plain sight, bags, nothing.

    What is the service interval for the oil? Synthetics can go 10K, but Tacoma discussion threads are all over the place with intervals as low as 5K. I use 7500 but now am considering 5K. Is this wasteful when using synthetic? Thanks

  • @teamoildrop

    Toyota calls for a 10k OCI. Not going to get into the CAFE standards that pushed Toyota to this. If the truck is operating in the severe service parameters, its lowered to a 5k OCI Many Toyota technicians as well as engine builders/rebuilders state that a 5k OCI is much better for engine longevity. • @teamoildrop

    @teamoildrop

    @@94blockmarauders2 a torque wrench is not to make something tighter, it’s to make something set to an exact tightness, which may be significantly more loose then you could tighten it by hand. Does that make sense? If doing this without a torque wrench you should not turn everything as hard as you can, you run the risk of stripping a bolt or breaking something. A torque wrench is a safety measure. I’ve done plenty of oil changes without them in my younger days, but you have to be careful.

    Truck is 110% likely to explode before reaching end of driveway. No you’re “okay”. If I recall it registers low on the dipstick at 6 qts but not catastrophically so. First thing in the to-do list is grab an extra 1 at to make her right.

    I have watched several of your videos and only disagree with one thing. Never use used oil to lube an o-ring or filter gasket. Use new oil only.

  • @teamoildrop

    @teamoildrop

    Жыл бұрын

    We appreciate the words! Used oil just tends to be the industry norm as its right there in your face vs cracking the new oil open early for the gasket. If I ever came across oil that was so dirty, viscosity thinned, or actually full of metal dust I'd join you for sure, to this date however I have never seen as such (knock on wood!) And if I did... oh we likely have much larger problems now or in the near future. Thanks again and look forward to hearing more form you! - Tyler
