Kumble later said in an interview, how embarrassed he would have been had Srinath had to bowl one more over like that, so he gave his everything to take the 10th wicket in that over itself 😆

There was a time when srinath was spear heading the pace attack of India and was considered the best pacer India could ever have 👍

Maybe some credit should go to the Pakistani tail batsman too. What if one of them decided to get out on Srinath,s bowling just to deny Kumble the 10 wickets. Something similar, happened before when one of the SL bowler bowled a purposefully no-ball to deny Sehwag the century in an Odi match.

Agar wicket keeper ke paas ball wapas aa bhi jati aur dono batsmen miscalculation se dusre wale crease pe hote, tab bhi wicket keeper ball ko gloves mai hi rakh leta, ya deliberate mis-fielding kar leta, jab tak ek batsman wapas ush crease pe na aa jata... This was the best bowling pair batting at number 7 in Sachin's captaincy to win at home Bangalore against Australia then captain Mark Taylor's maiden and only ODI century in losing cause I guess in 96 during festival of Dashera. Sachin was top scorer with 88 and 1 wicket. This was the only time I felt Srinath deserved the Man of the Match but unfortunately given to Sachin.

Sachin in an interview said, He regrets not getting the MOM by himself after that humiliating loss against Pakistan because he was devastated about getting out and team's loss. In a span of 25+ years of cricketing career ,this is the only moment he still regrets to this date. What a GEM!!!

It was tough being an Indian team fan in the early and mid 90's. I started watching when dada was the captain, so we saw only the rise and rise of cricket

I remember this so very well, wishing that, with all good intentions and efforts of Javagal Srinath, a wicket should not fall even by a freak accident. First time, i wished that a wicket of opposition should not fall, and that too of pakistan 😄... Fortunately, it didn't take too long before Kumble tumbled the last wicket...What a match that was...

@@shrinivasapte4610 What is so bad about letting a person who has spent so much effort to lead the team to a place where they are practically guaranteed a win to allow him to gain an extremely rare and almost impossible milestone that is completely deserved. It wasn't like the batsman threw his wicket or anything. It is similar to a partner giving strike to someone who is at like say 95. You want them to get a well-deserved 100. Seems pretty ethical and a sportsmanship moment to me

I bet, if opposition were Aussie's then this wasn't possible. Last man would got himself out anyhow, that's how they were back.....

I cannot forget the 10th wicket. i was watching it with my dad and after the 10th wicket, everyone celebrated with joy. my dad asked me if kumble took 10th wicket, who took the 11th. i couldn't stop laughing for 1 hour :-) memorial game with a funny end. never has anyone seen one bowler taking all wicket! so my dad got confused.

Srinath was one of the best bowler. I still remember how Srinath was bowling wide against waqar younis

Ind-pak was the OG version of Ind-Aus. Full press coverage and highly intense matches. Hope we can one day play them again at their full strength

In my honest opinion Srinath after Kapil Dev is the fierce paceman with deadly swings...He was a scapegoat..politics in cricket has demeaned his career...I love that innocent and modest man. Loads of love from Sri Lanka.

Friendship, Dedication, Consistency, Not giving up, Teamwork all in one place. But I admire Kumble when he took the run up with a devastating jaw injury (can't remember the match). Those days were the days we saw cricketing legends, now its just who is topping up his account.

Srinath despite his accolades had to go out with his head bent after the result of the cwc final in 03. I still try to understand why ganguly gave the opening spell to khan and not srinath.

I was 8/9 when I saw this match … my oldest cricketing memory. Was sooooo mad I couldn’t speak or yell properly. Wanted the last player to get out in any way to not give Kumble his 10. Looking back now; i’m thankful last Pakistani batsmen didn’t throw away the wicket to someone else. Loss in humiliation is acceptable but giving up or cheating shouldn’t be. I don’t care about 10 wicket haul anymore. Only thing I take from this is that this is typical Pakistan… one day destroying best team & next day losing to an associate nation. Stunning highs & embarrassing lows… never not entertaining. Pakistani fans can’t ever be calm & carry on 😆
