    @@Retrosenescent What bothers me about UBI is the B. It doesn't have to be Basic. Instead, we can have a Citizen Shareholder Fund owning a fixed part of the economy, let's say 25%, in which fund everyone has equal shares. It's ownership not charity. But you're right in the big picture, we need a replacement revenue model for post human labour economy

    The main problem with UBI can be seen in both the college system and minimum wage system. When loans became available to people colleges raised prices to the point where you can't get enough money in loans to afford college. Also the minimum wage hasn't kept up with inflation. It's very possible that if everyone was receiving income from the government, prices would rise to the point we couldn't afford to live based on what we are given. Also, right now the government has money because they tax those that are working. If people aren't working and just drawing from the government, who is putting money in? What incentive would people have to work to put money into the system?

    If you think you could write nonfiction using AI, you are in for a sad lesson. Much of the information on the internet is bogus, including those who have how to stuff. If you really know what you're doing, you know that much of that information is wrong in your field. That means that the information from AI is mostly wrong. It's just that people don't know it. It's like a writer copying information from another book but making it more entertaining while they get it wrong because they don't know what they're doing. The end result is just BS. Everyone is going to realize pretty soon that all this extra content is just bogus. Then the real money will go to the people who are real. Not those thinking they can make a fast Buck with AI.

Well those people are usually booked out several months in advance cuz nobody is doing these jobs anymore, cuz they are not cool. Also I realized that working in sales is pretty good - you don't have to worry about some technology progress, you just start selling the latest cool thing and you're good.

    The audiobooks example just sparked my interest. If there's a specific voice you want for a character, an AI can do that. The person making the audio with the AI can dictate the tone, the mood, the emphasis on specifics, and do that with their own voice while the AI turns that voice into the character's. That just created more work, which makes more jobs, and the quality of the content gets better.

    Here's the gist of the video: the rapid pace of AI innovation is causing job market chaos, with nearly 8 million jobs in the UK potentially lost to AI. However, instead of panicking, it's essential to adapt and learn how to "AI-proof" your career. The key is to identify what AI is good at and apply it to areas that need it, without necessarily being a software engineer or coder. The video highlights examples of people using AI to generate audiobooks, write books, and create products, and encourages viewers to upskill and reskill to stay ahead in the job market. The sponsor, Course Careers, offers a platform for learning technical skills and getting hired by top companies. The main takeaway is to be proactive, combine your existing skills with AI and prompt engineering, and create value to thrive in the changing job market.

While he went on to say that most of these jobs would be replaced, he failed to qualify that most of the replacement jobs will mainly require less skill and pay lower wages. Goolsby's predictions had not even considered the currently developing field of AI and its impact on the job market. Very few occupations will remain unaffected by AI.

    this feels like fear mongering. Devin is stupid as hell . I mean after the initial hype, people have realised devin was LUL. AI is helpful in certain tasks, but its definitely not going to replace a good engineer who knows his/her stuff. So please guys, instead of taking drastic steps, just concentrate on being a good engineer, sharpen your skills, be aware of the AI enhancements taking place so that you can take advantage of it where its applicable and just go be an awesome engineer.

  • @TinaHuang1

    @TinaHuang1

    Ай бұрын

    I’m not telling people to go take drastic steps and go quit your job or something. Humans have difficulty understanding exponential growth which is what is happening right now with AI. Devin is stupid yes right now but that’s how technology works. We also thought that LLMs would never be able to hold a conversation, we wouldn’t have AI video for ages, agentic workflows could not exist etc. It goes from not very good to better and better. The breakthrough is that there is a proof of concept albeit a shitty version. There are also clearly shifts in hiring patterns. Sure it’s not as astounding and life changing as many people hyping it up are claiming it to be but it’s clearly changing the world drastically. Do you really want to just wait around hoping that breakthroughs don’t happen? What I’m suggesting is to try to take advantage of what’s happening now, including become a good engineer and actually use those skills to shape the future.

But actually, you only worked as a data scientist for almost 1 year and quit your job to work as a full-time KZreadr to make money! This 1 year of experience can't even secure a mid-level data scientist position in the current market, but you build a program to teach people how to learn AI and relevant knowledge. would be curious about how much experience or knowledge in AI, machine learning, NLP, and computer science you really have, and how much you still remember. I wonder how much ML production experience you gained from your 1 year, only 1 year of experience. That bar chart mentioning brainstorming being a major application seems on point. I tried using ChatGPT to help me develop a GUI application but had problems that caused me to spend too much time fixing obscure problems. At some point I tried Gemini and got better results so I started again and got further. From my perspective it is great if you want something from it that constitutes the baseline in your field. Had I asked for a double buffering mechanism it would have given me one. Instead I asked for a clever double buffer which would always give me a contiguous piece of memory which can be achieved by copying some bytes during insertion and it failed to even remotely comprehend what I wanted to do. So getting up to speed is good, getting creative is asking too much. Writing tests is also ok. I'm really wondering whether paying for ChatGPT or this other new thing would give me better results now.

    A year ago, this was one the best channels to learn basic concepts and how to approach challenging problems. I learnt a lot through your videos.Thank you for that.but recently your videos are making me more anxious about my future in the IT industry. I wanna stay away from this topic. Sorry and Good luck.
