not gonna lie - it feels so overwhelming right now. there are a million companies, a million things i want to try, and i get conflicting information - to hunker down and master one thing, but then i feel passions bubbling up in something else and end up spreading myself too thin. this was so helpful and loved your take on this. i'm in my 20s, a little lost, and thinking about skills each day.

The fact that you are thinking about this, in your 20s, trying to find your path, is so much more than 98% of people your are are doing. Don't panic too much. Try things out, learn a little here an there. Once you feel confidently about a certain path, go for that. Even if you take a year or two to try things out, you will be far and above most others once you get going.

Completely agree. So many companies. New tools every day. There does not feel like a clear path to survival. That said, with just being aware of and current with AI you are well ahead of the bulk of humanity so that counts for something. Also think survival will come from being current and having some other subject matter of which you are knowledgeable. Best of times, worse of times indeed.

I live in a 3rd world country. I took an online software developer job that take me 2 hours to accomplish (with the help of AI ofc). I earn $1500 a month which is way too much for me(like a half year income relative to a normal worker in my country). I end up playing video games or procrastinating on youtube 10-12 hours a day. I just don't get how you get bankrupt easily like what's being said on the video

I was a developer from 1998 to 2020. The 20 year burnout hurt the most. Im glad I got out when I did. I don't really need to work ever again but I decided to start a lawn mowing business to keep me from getting bored and I ended up loving it; I wish I did it 15 years ago. If you're starting to hate sitting in front of a computer all day and sick of being at the mercy of the market, start saving up and thinking of making your own business. I'd even recommend finding something thst puts you outside every day. Even better is I enjoy doing personal projects with new tech for fun now that I dont work in the field anymore.

@@I_want_a_duck_ absolutely, glad I could help even if it's just one person. I know the feeling. I was miserable the last 10 years of my career and thought I'd be stuck in a cubicle prison until I was an old man. The hardest thing to get over is what seems like easy money for sitting around. While that's true, I was surprised to find how much potential a little lawn mowing business had. I'm not making $200k/yr, but this last year I brought in almost half of that and I've had to turn down new business for the last few months.

@@I_want_a_duck_ not really. Ive always loved spending time outside working on the house and yard. I was my own worst enemy at first thinking there's no way I can compete with other landscapers in town. Then I realized most houses had unruly yards and that most the landscapers in town only took on business accounts, so I passed out some flowers and did some local advertising and within 3 months I was already fully booked. Since it's just me for now, I made sure to be clear I only mow and trim weeds that way I can move quickly and don't need a bunch of equipment. I'm getting by with a truck, trailer, 4 trash barrels for the mulch, a lawnmower and weed whacker. Minus the truck I already had, it took me about $10k to start.

Hi, Tina, Thank you for the high quality content that you provide for us. I share some of your videos with my two sons, because they are 17 and 15 years of age and I want them to have an idea what is the situation with jobs and what qualifications they could get in the coming years in order to be successful. It is going to be hard for the future students to choose their majors, because everything is changing so fast, but universities and colleges will need more time to apply those changes to their student majors. I've personally just finished a two year Graphic design program and I feel so overwhelmed with all of the AI impacting our field and can hardly keep up with all of the new information and skills that I need to learn.

I think it is also very important to learn about low code and no code solutions that can enhance your work and let you focus only on the things you are good at. I am a Support analyst for a large technology company based in Austin Tx. I started in Tech support with the covid hiring surge and things have been grim since. More than 10k jobs cut, advancement opportunities are nonexistent, and we have been doing rolling quarterly layoffs for the last 2 years. Stock price is up 170% though!! I believe AI is a big part of this. They want more for less and cuts will continue as the automate more things. Stay away from big companies as an employee. especially publicly traded ones. if you do join one, get your money, save up, and dip.

I work as an analyst and IT support for the state of California. Great work/ life balance, and, overall, I'm happy, but I like AI and just started learning Python (currently working on my final project), so I'm interested to hear about career options, not because I dislike what I have, but just because I might like AI better.

I want to know how current (traditional) software developers learn AI (tools) to elevate their career? Not becoming an AI/ML engineer, just to upskill themselves to be better at what they do daily. What course do you suggest them to take online? Thank you!

Hi. I'm an IT director in network engineering and a network architect. I've built and managed large enterprise networks for the last 20+ years and lead network engineering teams. Thinking about starting my own company and riding the AI wave. Since my core competency is networking I'm looking to see how I can leverage AI and automation to either create my own products or open a consultancy. I recently discovered your content and I think you do an amazing job with it. Much appreciated.

Work can be a real stress-fest, but having some backup can definitely lighten the load. Still, it's frustrating when AI just can't seem to grasp what you really need. Case in point: I come home to a stack of a thousand spreadsheets to fill out and 50 emails to blast out after a grueling 12-hour workday. 😩 It's a major bummer because by the time I'm done, my productivity's tanked, and it feels like I'm just spinning my wheels ...

It's a real hassle all around when you're tackling a project that needs to be developed quickly and requires unique research. This whole process becomes cumbersome, slowing down my workflow. Finding the exact solution is rare and quite challenging. 😓 It feels like hitting a wall sometimes!

There's a ton of help out there online, but there's a big difference between a digital assistant and a digital taskmaster. Not too long ago, I was working on a project that involved wrangling a spreadsheet with 2500 characters, each needing to be unique. I tried searching for solutions, but it didn't help one bit. Ended up having to ditch the whole project...

Tina, how would you put on your resume or portfolio description that you’re into AI also, ie “I’m a UX designer from L.A. interested in XR and new technologies” that’s what I have now haha I am also weirdly scared to put that I’m interested in ai because I feel a lot of my fellow designers and researchers hate and/or are scared of ai. You asked but I’m a UX designer (that can code and also sculpt in 3D and my background is fashion design -> graphic design -> web design -> present)
