    Hi Janey...thank you for the video. Me and my partner are taking this route. All your points are valid but i dont think they are feasible now in the era of covid especially since there are no visitor visas being approved. So it may be difficult to visit first

    Good day ma, are you saying that the student should first get the study permit, then apply for the dependants visitor's visa. So when they land in Canada, it can now be converted to a work permit through flagpoling?

    Chika, you need your study permit(to be given at POE). Also, you need an enrollment letter and a house address. I am on the same path as you. Gathering other documents pending the time I land first and then we can push hers. I hope this helps.

    Thank you for helping answer the question. From what I gather, Olagbende is right, the study visa is just for entry into the country; the study permit (which is what you need) is the validation and proof of allowance for you to study in Canada

    I hear You can apply same time or after. Check the Government of Canada’s website to confirm. But know that with a temp permit like the study permit, you are convincing them that you’d be leaving after school, so typically, applying with a spouse at the time of the permit may make that a harder argument

    I am on student visa and I have brought my husband and kid on dependent visa. So My husband is sowp and my kid we applied for vistor visa instead of study permit. As my kid is above 5 years old and he is studying Senior Kinder garden. I want to know since he is in visitor visa should he not stay here for more that 6 months evening have his visa approved till 31st mar 2025 or should I convert it to study visa?

    Hi my wife and kids are pr of canada I applied under family sponsorship in January 2021 biometrics and medical done in February 2021 and still there is not any answer from ircc and I had applied for visitor visa in Jan 2021 biometric done but still both of my visas are under processing what do u think how long it will take as I m the only one left behind and dying to see my family from last 10 months

    No, except you are exempt. You are to apply for a study permit only if you have an admission at a point of entry.
