Janey Buz

Hi, I am Janey - a Canadian Immigrant who loves everything Tech and Business.

When I moved to Canada in 2015, I could not find most of the resources I needed in one place. So, I decided to create one on KZread at the end of 2016 with my very first topic: 'Top 10 things every International Student coming to Canada should know' and now here you are. This is a medium to share lessons, tips and resources to navigate studying, working, business and money matters as an immigrant. So come along! I also bring on other Immigrants in other spheres of life to share their experience every month.

The goal: entertain everyone - educate some - change the lives of many!

    I have a question. For someone looking to relocate to the uk for work. I am told that UK wouldn't give me room to save up as every single penny goes right back into paying taxes. I am also told accommodation is very much expensive as every penny earned is put into securing your accommodation for just 1 week. PS: is housing rent paid weekly? What's the range fo price fot rent? Please can you address these as it's giving me a hard to time deciding where to relocate to. As i have never been to either of the countries and don't know what to expect.🙏🙏🙏

    “canada” is purely racism. Skintone is valued far more than commitment to truth, love, humanity. Fair-skinned Josef Fritzls will live comfortably here while dark-skinned bodhisattvas are ground to dust.

    I have lived here 21 years now and truly regret moving here. 21 years of misery. The cost of living is disgusting , the winter really sucks, the food is disgusting, and I miss my country and my spicy food the hot weather all year round, and yes I hate racism. In 18 years I only made 1 friend. I rarely go out cause I am disabled . and most white folk here are back stabbers. I avoid them at all costs. and you are right about the land of boredom. living in apartments really suck lots of crime and theft. I am eventually going to leave Canada . I love Victoria BC & Vancouver but way too expensive for me to live in either place , I live in a miserable place in Canada so really looking forward to leaving. Clothes buy everything at Walmart or Charity shops , clothes are expensive. Big & Tall if you are a big person but again expensive.

    As a white South African in Edmonton, I can tell you that many Canadians are very racist and condescending. They hide it through their 'politeness'. But there is a difference between politeness and kindness. Canadians are not kind. And if this is how they treat me as a white (foreign) person, I can not imagine what other cultural groups must go through. The cold is bearable if you prepare correctly. The taxes make sense. Healthcare is wonderful considering it's free. I will also accept the rates of insurance. These things are necessary evils. Housing is absurd and unobtainable. Canadians live to work. They really lack any depth in existential expression. They also have little regard for workers and worker rights. Canadians also don't really have a unique culture, unless you consider Tim Hortons, ice-hockey, and poutine as something of significance. Take away their comfort and entertainment and they won't know who they are as a nation. And their most offensive attribute is probably their insatiable consumerism. It really is grotesque just how wasteful, greedy, and gluttonous they are. All this being said, I have not met every Candian, nor do I include every single Canadian in my critique. These are just my broad experiences of them as a group. There are many wonderful and warm Canadians, but my experience is that they are in the minority. If you come to Canada, stick with people from your culture, or at least fellow immigrants. They will assist you the best and show you compassion. And keep hope. Things are changing fast. It won't take long for the intolerant to become the minority.

    Maybe professional experience in the UK helps a little in Canada, but Canadian firms really demand "Canadian experience." So, I don't know if UK experience is all that useful.

    I heard that UK houses tend to be really small. Also, they don't tend to have basements, whereas Canadian houses seem to have full finished basements.

    Am I the only one who was confused? When the lady on the left said "we" and then "I bought a house in London" it kept confusing me. And they were shooting the video in Toronto? Mind blown lol

    Thanks a lot for the video! I live in London and i wanted to move to Toronto but after this video i'm deffinitely not moving. Plus the holidays in Canada what i heard is 2 weeks and here in UK is like 5-6 weeks. Thanks again.

    Born and raised in the UK but lived in Southern Ontario for the last 23 years. Have to say that I don't agree that the weather is better in the UK, no way. Canada has long hot summers and the winters are getting milder with lots of sun. Compare that to the dreary wet weather of the UK. There's no contest.

    Canadian vs UK average holiday or annual leave time needs to also be considered in the job section…2weeks Canadian vs 5-6 weeks UK is a massive consideration

  • @Ash-vt5cp
    @Ash-vt5cp29 күн бұрын

    This 2 weeks figure does not include public holidays, while the 5.6 week (28 days) figure in the UK does. Canada has 12 statutory holidays, so it is 28 days (20 + 8) in UK vs 22 (10 + 12) in Canada, so a smaller difference. However, from my experience in the tech industry, UK companies are much more likely to give more than the minimum (typically 30-35 days) compared to canadian companies, who almost always just give the minimum required 22.
