How to move the worm cocoons, and set up the breeders for more success
So the rotation is starting. It’s time to move the hatched cocoons to the wall for them to grow up. And it’s time to set up the breeders again.

You’re very welcome ☺️ the worm world is a fascinating one
Great attitude to just deal with any issues, learn from them and move on. That's a lot of worm babies to divide up! ~ Sandra
That's right Vee leafs as bedding when decomposed gives a nice earthy smell. Luv it.
My mom taught me how to cook. I love to cook. Unfortunately, now that im disabled there are days i cant cook. I have adapted by making and portion and freeze for those days . Siezures are heck on plans and cooking. My garden is messy (a wild mix of flowers and veggies). I have neighbors ask how mt garden is SO FULL yet so productive. Lol. Worm castings of course! I also thin rather agressively at times and my worms love the extras...
It's great seeing your process for all of your worm tasks. Thanks for sharing!
A worm meatloaf!! I thought that before you even said it!😄

🤣 me too that’s the first thing I thought of
That is definately a huge wormball
Alfafa pellet. I precompost the bedding in 15 gal bins. It shortens the completion time significantly less. The big bins keep can sit for weeks as long as you stir every 3 days or so. But alfafa definely needs several days to get past the heating stage. The problem is if you watch the episode you put a ton in so it went anerobic and stunk. If you use about 1/2 cup to each gallon of bedding you make and stir every other day until it passes the heating stage. Love and virtual hugs, mike.

You are absolutely right. That stuff needs to pre-compost first
Good morning, Vee, from Windermere, Florida 9b 🇺🇸 I love your storytelling. ❤ I'm pushing myself to keep 6 worm systems going. It's getting so hot here that I am avoiding harvesting. Of course, I'm still feeding and giving a molasses squirk❤❤ Have a great week ❤Peggy❤

I hate the heat myself. I love winter. If you’re avoiding harvesting, I have a tip for you. Anytime you feed them food scraps give them a little handful of some kind of shredded newspaper or box moistened. It’ll keep the system balance.

@The Garden And Worm Lady absolutely..and a sprinkle of eggshells. Thanks Vee💕
Why did you devide the breeders? It's more work or....do they breed more with half of the group?

It is more work, but they breed better when they are divided. I have tested this with all worms.
If you add cinnamon to your chow mix chick you will see a big difference in your tubs. 😅
What are the plants growing in the beds?

When I make my worm chow, sometimes the wheat I add will sprout. Because the castings are so fertile I just pulled them up and lay them back down and it just creates extra food for the Worms.
Can not find your watering device or where you listed it on Amazon. Please repost it here. Thank you. Very aggravated with my 2 gallon pump can. Thanks.

I get the transition from hatchlings to grow out but it looks like you’re moving entire content from one identical bin to another. Why not move the original bin to the other wall. Use a clean bin to add more cocoons to hatch the next round. It just seems like an extra step.

Because I only have the heat mats on one wall. And the bins fit a certain way on one wall I supposed to the other plus as I sell it rotates all the bins for me. I have to move the entire continent to make more room for the new ones coming up. That’s always the problem is not enough space. The bins are different sizes. I’m a little ocd about it. They need to match 🤣
🪱💞👍
How many worms do you keep in a bin? I'm trying to figure out if mine are too crowded. I know you don't count. It it one handful, two or more?? (Ok, so later in the video, I see one handful) Oh yeah, I need to know what to do with the leaves.

For the breeder bins it’s anywhere from a quarter pound to half a pound. Are usually go by the size of the bin. Yes, when the leaves start falling here, you will see the process. The darkest castings I’ve ever gotten was when I have fed leaves.
I wanted to pop back in and tell you that there are real concrete worms like you have on your home page. Have you ever seen them?

Are usually get them at Sam’s Club. They are called bus bins, but they also have them on Amazon.
