How to mend a zip

The zip in your favourite bag or jumper is broken and you are wondering if it is possible to mend it without replacing the whole item. The good news is that anybody can repair a zipper and the job is no hassle at all!
You can come across a few different issues, for example the teeth won’t close or keep popping open, which is very frustrating. If the teeth are straight and the thread isn't stuck in the zip, it means that the slider has started to come apart and doesn’t cling the zipper teeth together anymore. In this case use a pair a pliers to close the slider together. Unfortunately, this trick works only with metal sliders; plastic ones are too fragile and will snap so it’s better to replace them with new ones of the same size.
Very often a zip has a metal or plastic bumper at the end so remove it before you'll start the job. Depending on the type, sometimes you will be able to put the bumper back, but if it won't be possible just replace the bumper with the stitches.

Puede arreglarse sin quitar el cierre y retirar esa pieza. Yo lo hago corriendo la pieza un poco u cerrandolo con el alicate. Luego cirro para arriba y de allí para abajo. Asunto ARREGLADO!!!!

I haven’t commented on a KZread video in years but just wanted to say THANK YOU! I bought some boots at a sample sale and didn’t realize the zipper was busted. I was so bummed to realize this when I got home. This trick saved them! 😅

For an easy and shortcut way of doing this that does not require undoing the zip- just slide your pliers underneathe and tighten smash the two pieces together (for lack of a better word) the zip while still intact. I just repaired two pairs of brand new shoes that had this problem.

I have a bag where the zipper tab went off the end of the zipper on the top pocket. I can't get the front of the zipper far enough back to get onto the first teeth. I was even worried that maybe I should cut off the first few teeth and make a new starting spot. Then sew together the spot where I had to cut off the teeth. Any suggestions would be great.

Лучше заменить т к старый не надолго. Если он разогнулся, значит он ослаблен и когда мы его сжимаем появляется трещина. А значит быстро выйдет из строя.

I have a bag that i reallly like, but the teeth and zipper are both broken. The zipper is broken in half, the actual slider part, and the teeth on one side are missing, a portion of where the zipper was stuck. What can i do to repair both the zipper and the section of teeth that are broken right off? The zipper and teeth are made of copper, but not sure what do to to repair the damage. I really don't want to buy a new backpack since its really only the zipper and teeh part that are damaged. What kind of stuff would i need to repair my bag if the zipper and teeth are made of a copper like medal? Will any repair work, or should i take it to a professional? Not sure what to do
