Good Information! Zinc and copper status is something we need more information on. People don't give these minerals enough credit in how important they are to the brain!!! The frontal lobe needs them desperately!!! It is a very personal topic for me because my step-daughter has severe ADHD. I have used a natural approach to minimize her symptoms that has included zinc supplementation along with bio-available copper. It has been a game changer.

@See Quinn I think she's refering to a product called Mitosynergy. Its copper complexed with niacin i believe. This way it bypass the enzyme function thats supposed to make copper bio-available. It makes no sense to use this product when you can nuturally increase bio-available copper by supporting you ceruloplasmin ferroxidase activity.

In a very large epidemiological study of supplementation, copper supplements were the only thing associated with a shortened lifespan. This makes perfect sense, since most copper supplements are un- or poorly ligated, so they can engage in Fenton chemistry resulting in the formation of dangerous hydroxyl radicals. Don't use them. Don't wait for your water to turn blue, that is FAR past the point of long term toxicity. If you have copper plumbing, let the water run a long time before you drink it or cook with it. Never use water from the hot water tap; it can be contaminated with aluminum ions from the sacrificial anode in the water heater. Use a water filter (Britta or similar). Get your copper from food, not pills.

Hi I know this is an old comment but do you still stand behind the idea that supplemental copper should always be avoided? I'm just curious, because I'm about to order some copper bisclycinate 3mg tablets. I have no way to check my copper status at this time... BUT I am supplementing with zinc and liposomal ascorbic acid, so I think I need some copper to go with that. I know people say it's better to get nutrition from diet than supplements, but I'm trying to do both, I eat keto but I'm hit and miss when it comes to getting enough nutrition there. All my life my diet wasn't good enough, so I'm certain I need to play catch up regarding nutrients. If you took the time to read this, thanks.🙏🙏

Hey Chris!! Really enjoying your videos and the content here. I'm learning a lot from you and i'm getting affirmation on lot of these same minerals and topics that ive studied on my own So here's my story I was taking large doses of Zinc (70-100 mg) for a long periods of time to increase my testosterone levels. Slowly what started happening got me in point where i was in a terrible mood always ( which i thought comes with high testosterone levels... ) i started losing interest and focus in almost all things, I had a terrible brain fog and just felt so stiff and weak like my hands would almost shake, even my video game performance on these fast paced FPS games would plummet and id had though time keeping up with the reaction time and fast decisions. Started even losing colour on my hair... After sometime i started connecting the dots, taking this much zinc cant be good for me SO eventually i started eating liver and supplementing with copper and it didn't take that long for me to start feeling much better. My hand eye coordination got back and even better and i didn't only see it in computer games but with playing basketball. Through experience of testing lot of different minerals i know mega dosing on any one mineral cant be good for you since they are all needed in harmonious quantities for the magic of life to happen. Can you make an video of your assessment of how the mineral balance should be, and not only the key players but trace elements as well.

Dr. Masterjohn, on a camera technical note; the black background is forcing the camera to increase the ISO in an effort to brighten the black. This is giving you hot spots on your face and making the quality of the video suboptimal. You can either change the background or adjust the camera settings to underexpose.

So more than a dozen video's until this one have generally detailed how copper toxicity is rampant. The amounts of estrogen around us and in foods have basically caused this. It's so challenging to understand if we have a higher risk of being deficient or have too much in our system. Especially if much of a person's symptoms are related to being cold and having muscular pain. What would be the most efficient way to have a doctor accurately test this. Thank you

@@lokomotive28 Hi. No, but I figured recently the cause of malabsorption (and I am low and deficient not only in copper but in every essential mineral, and high/toxic in every few toxic minerals and heavy metals). It's because of heavy metal toxicity, aluminum and mercury. They don't allow the cells to use and manage properly the essential minerals. The way I found out is by doing hair mineral analyses test. I stumbled upon Andrew Cutler method, and became aware of this test. This is the way to diagnose heavy metal toxicity. The sick care mainstream medical system pretends to check for heavy metal toxicity through blood analyses, but it's not how it works, you can detect this toxicity in blood only if it was a recent and acute poisoning. After few weeks after acute poisoning, or if the poisoning happens gradually - the heavy metals will not be in the blood anymore, but they will be in the tissue/cells (hair, brain cells, cells in general, bone, etc). That's how our body works in this sense. The two main causes for heavy metal toxicity is 1) vaccines (for mercury and aluminium), and 2) dental amalgams (for mercury). Hope it can be useful for you. Good luck.

@@gisticz I have mercury and aluminum toxicity (probably as one side of the va-ne injury, since I was little). So basically that (and possibly other things) is causing my shi**y health situation. The mercury also can cause hypothyroidism and/or Hashimoto's disease, and just research hypothyroidism what it can do, especially if it's undiagnosed for decades. But in any case, heavy metal toxicity is no joke, it doesn't need to affect thyroid gland to ruin one's life, other tissues, including brain - will do too. I also recently suspected celiac disease, after I discovered that one can have a form of it that's not symptomatic... I did the blood tests, but then again I heard of cases in which blood tests are negative but biopsy is positive (also because vile damage can be caused not only by gluten). Amalgams are one of the main sources of mercury toxicity. Even though some seem to not have issues with a lot of amalgams in their mouth, since others do suffer from them a lot. Any speck of amalgam should be removed (not one single smallest piece left, because unless everything is removed, our body won't start the detoxification process). More on this - by researching "Andrew Cutler Chelation method", you can find his books for free too on one website. Find articles, videos, interviews, on this. Hopefully you have more luck than me, since I don't seem to have much.

as a rule of thumb aim for 100 on both. he talks about Cp (ceruloplasmin) but doesn't seem to put much stock in it. Many believe a copper panel without testing Cp is incomplete because you can't tell bound vs unbound/free Copper. Bound copper isn't bad. Then there are others still that believe Cp is one of the most important (or THE most important) enzyme in the body, even above Glutathione ("master antioxidant") or Metallothionein (MT - heavy metal binder) and so they are keen to know their levels. these latter sorts consider Cp to be in the 30s good but again are interpreted according to total copper. all copper is meant to be bound inside of Cp, they believe. if you have Cp in the 40s something could be up, either one has high total copper as well or maybe the Cp doesn't have its full compliment of Cu atoms, or all of the above, or it's just temporary. good luck, fren. if you supplement with some Zinc try to balance it with some copper as well (many Zn supps contain a small amount of Cu). Or just stick with oysters and Mollusks as they are high in zinc balanced naturally with copper so your body can choose which it wants more. Many believe the Whole Food C-complex of Vitamin C contains copper and so seek out whole food sources of C as a source of Copper. Ascorbic Acid, being the 'empty' version of the vitamin ends up leeching Copper from the body. Figuring that speculation out is what led me to learn these things, actually.

Chris is so wrong in this copper topic it's not even funny... Serum copper is useless number. What is important is ceruloplasmin and ceruloplasmin can be low for many reasons. Copper deficiency is just one of them. Many woman who have issues with bile flow have copper acumulation in the liver, because they can't eliminate excess of copper via bile. In my worst point I had low serum copper with low ceruloplasmin so I started with beef liver and other copper rich foods and my health was worse and worse. IF you have a lot of oxidative stress, fried adrenals, low amino acids your body can't make systemic proteins like ceruloplasmin. Therefore copper can be used without taxi driver ceruloplasmin. So it will just stay in the live. Chris can do some research on this. Your point of view on copper metabolism is the same like ordinary doctor have which is completely wrong... People are not deficient in copper. Copper is in everything. But people are deficient in other micronutrients needed for ceruloplasmin production...

@See Quinn Like I said if you have normal good quality diet it is not about copper. You need to understand that good copper metabolism is only in good health. If you have issues with liver, adrenals, heavy metal toxicity etc.. Your systemic proteins are low which means your ceruloplasmin is low so your bioavailable copper will be low also. Do hair test with ARL labs www.arltma.com/contact_analytical_research_labs.html they will tell you what minerals, vitamins you should take + what macronutrients ratio you should eat depend on your metabolism and then you need retest in next 4 months to see what is going on. One hair test is useless because you can have low heavy metals in the hair due to bad elimination and when you support adrenals, micronutrient deficiencies heavy metals can go crazy high on another hair test.. You also need to make sure that your lifestyle is good. Sleep is good. Low stress etc.. I also should do near infrared sauna (4 lamps with 250w infrared bulbs. That is the best way to detox from EVERYTHING + it heals and regenerates tissues, calms down the body, activates rest and digest mode. Especially now in the winter it is amazing for me.. and like I said I hope your are not on some extreme diet like low carb, high carb, vegan, paleo etc.. All are bad probably. You need balanced diet with good amount of protein, complex carbs and some good fats.. Drinking every day some good quality whey protein is good. So you know you have all the essential amino acids.. You have probably digestive issues as well = low amino acids due to low stomach acid.. ANd you need histidine amino acid for stomach acid production so it is vicious cycle.. You can heal no worries. I was almost dead. Years and years like a zombie without work and basically zero energy for life.. You need to just stop questioning if you will be healthy. This alone will lower your stress tremendously. emotional stress from negative thinking and worries 24/7 is the worst for healing.. It is the same for the body like you are running from the lion 24/7. You can't heal in this state.. and yes I was doing bodybuilding 10 years. Now I just want to be healthy and look good.. :)
