I'm replacing 2 window motors because they went out within a month of each other and I chose not to use the others. I thought the window fell out of the track/holder (happened on my older autos). When I went in to fix it I found a mess of wire coming out of the motor. Asked my brother-in-law about it because he has had several of my make and model and he said they wouldn't have done that had I kept my tracks lubed as this video suggests. Well I never knew it was a thing. So after replacing them I am going to clean lube them just like this video instructs. Thanks Sweet Project Cars!

I hadn't really given a thought about making sure that you exercise your power windows like this - to help keep the motors from going bad. Been there, done that - replacing the motors is NOT a fun time! So I shall add this to my list of things to do on our mini-van. And after driving down to Florida and back and experiencing the "love bugs" I think that I shall invest in a removable screen / bra for the front of the car so I can remove it and clean it. Right now the headlights need a good cleaning - just like you've taught us in the past. Cheers, Mike.

What you said about "use it or lose it" is exactly correct! When I got my old Buick- nobody had hardly used the passenger side window. As soon as I began to- SNAP CRACKLE POP and I was installing a new motor. The nylon gear was dry, and the glass tracks were filthy and sticky. That dry lube is a great idea- no mess on the glass, no petroleum distillates to damage plastics. Excellent! Thank you.

As long as we are on the subject of power windows... I have an annoying issue that you may have a trick for! When it gets super cold out (Northeast Winters) my window likes to freeze shut. You have to wait for the cabin to warm up on the truck so the window "thaws" out and will go down. It sure would be nice just to hit the switch like summer time and have the window go down! Any suggestions? I am sure I am not the only one with this annoyance, maybe it's video worthy if there is a simple solution?

This vid should help with that freezing. It acts as a moisture barrier. Also make sure the rubber weather seal surrounding the upper window is well conditioned so as to NOT trap water to freeze.

I was thinking window motor but thought I would try your method. Truly unbelievable. DRAMATIC difference and completely amazed! Not trying to be rude any doing the lube might work but you are not getting enough of voltage to the window motors with the vehicle off. You should have the vehicle running. Most likely you will have about 13-14v when running under draw without running you might be 9-10

thank you very much, but the window did this weather the car was running or not...we talked to the customer about it and we were correct in our assumption, their son always sat in the back on the passenger side of the car so the back drivers side window was not used whatsoever that's why they all worked well but the one we did the video on. thanks my friend for your great comment
