Thanks for sharing all that! I am about 6 weeks into owning my 2007 Boxster, base, 5 spd. It has just over 100k now. Going through and doing little things myself, as I learn. Did the oil a week in to be safe. Constantly looking for leaks, none so far. The car is in great shape for the age. So starting to look around and learn as much as I can. There is a bit of oil in the hoses from (to?) the AOS, so picked up a new one, first challenge ahead to replace it myself. Already replaced the shifter with a numeric kit. Cables soon too. I do have the random blue smoke at startup, literally a 1 second puff. Has not happened in a couple of weeks. I plan on having the local place take a look at things I just don’t know about yet, so hopefully nothing too crazy. But loving it so far and doing as much maintenance myself as I learn.

I have to park in the street in the city, so to keep my leather happy, I clean/condition it 4-6 times a year. Depending on where you live, you may be able to get Dr Wack A1, which is what Porsche sell rebranded as their own leather care products. This is cheaper and you know it won't mess with the colour. Then I have a silica bag in the car to suck up moisture and I cover the dash with a bright fitness towel, so the dash won't lose colour/dry out and get cracked. After 6 years, all leather is still in top condition. I also do all the plastics and rubber several times with Sonax products, those also still look as new inside and out.

Don't eat in the car. You really don't want gravy between the seats or chicken grease on the leather in these cars.

I ended a birds life this weekend. He committed suicide by dive bombing my front end. Thankfully just a small nick in the kidney grille and no other damage. One tip I learned years ago, if you use Fantastic spray on the bug splatter and let it dwell for a few minutes before washing, it'll help melt off the bug guts.

Automobiles are supposed to be exposed to weather and Sun and used daily or most times. They look aged like Humans in time in or out. I'm one who does his own Work and service and buy my parts and tools needed not in my tool boxes.
