I’ve had several different models of Foodsaver vacuum sealers over the last 15 years. kzread.infoUgkxLarn2Zt7095D2lp3tN-bj5JtYPg3Wz2 I picked up the Nesco unit because it consistently receives top reviews it all across the Internet. Get this if you’re serious about vacuum sealing. This is the most have unit. The only tiny annoyance is not being able to lock the lid when you put it in storage that is such a tiny nitpick however, it’s almost worth not mentioning.

You are better off with a chamber sealer. Machine will cost more but you can get regular 5 mil bags for about .01 cent each and a chamber sealer will do soups , stews, you can even seal gallon bags of water.

For freezing soups, sauces, fruit etc. Hubby puts it in a ziplock bag, freezes it for a few days and then opens the ziplock bag and puts it in the vacuum seal bags. I order pre-made bags I buy my bags in bulk from a company in California called DOUG CARE. Been buying from them for years. They sell sealing. Machines and a varity of bag styles, sizes and thicknesses. FYI...I am only a customer of theirs, I'm not a representative, influencer, etc.

I bought a vacuum sealer from Aldi's last week for $29.99. I have always wanted one but did not want to pay upwards of $150. With the crazy increase in the cost of food, I am more conscious of buying items when on sale. The sealer allows me to buy larger quantities and freeze for longer periods. Als ol for refrigerator items, especially cheese. I can extend it's life before it turns green (i.e. bad) by vacuum sealing each time after opening the cheese.

It is a good idea for certain items. And for others, even IF you buy PREMIUM freezer bags you have to be careful of how you handle the bags when going through your freezer moving items around looking for certain items. As even using good to premium freezer bags, when filled with hard, frozen foods become very delicate and susceptible to abrasions that go right through those bags if bags are slid, shifted, bumped or banged into each other. And you KNOW how when you stack bags of food in your freezer, once frozen don't exactly just move freely without scraping against or banging into other bags. And that's when said abrasions scrape or poke holes in the bags.

I have the same vacuum sealer as you. If you remove the two black foam rings from the top of the lid and bottom, rinse them off and reinstall, the vacum will stop when complete instead of continuously running and you have to hit the button to start the seal process. I think the foam padding wears out over time and allows air to pass during the vacum and sealing process. This works for me. Thanks for the video.

I re-use the vacuum sealer bags all the time. I actually put the food in the cheap storage bags from Aldi, then into the vac bags, then seal them. If the food is frozen when I need it, I cut the vac bag open, remove the inner bag, and thaw. No washing necessary.

I bought a vacuum sealer from Aldi's last week for $29.99 . I have always wanted one but did not want to pay upwards of $150. With the crazy increase in the cost of food, I am more conscious of buying items when on sale. The sealer allows me to buy larger quantities and freeze for longer periods. Also for refrigerator items, especially cheese. I can extend it's life before it turns green (i.e. bad) by vacuum sealing each time after opening the cheese.

I also got one from Aldi a few days ago. I wanted vacuum for sous vide cooking. I had been using a hand pump w/bags from Amazon or water displacement method. That didn’t always remove enough air and I had to clamp the bags down in the water. That can prevent water from circulating well around the bag. I got my immersion circulator for sous vide at Aldi too a couple of years ago.
