I live in a high humidity area and I would recommend inverting the freezing process. That is, divide up the big bag, vacuum seal it, then freeze it; instead of freezing it first. The sealed bag will prevent any moisture from condensing on the flour itself as it warms back up, but you may have a wet plastic bag. Better than wet flour though.

This model is more compact and quieter than our older version that this one is replacing. We have done creme brûlée, cookie dough and tons of meat. They all come out perfect every time. I recommend this to EVERYONE. The app is great and easy to use. It stays at a consistent temperature. This model is extremely quiet. I just love it. We also have the anovo sous vide cooker 16L box thing and this fits inside that which is great because I can store them together. I just love that I can set this and walk away to deal with the rest of dinner.

I recommend that you cut off the the vacuum seal bags (if they're ziplock) keep the top sealed/zipped. That way, when it comes time to use the stuff in the bag, you can just use the ziplock opening - and potentially just cut open the bottom again, reseal, and keep using the same bag. That makes vacuum sealing bags a sustainable storage method.

After I watched your video about stocking up before fall, I began making my order and placing it to pick up.. It got pretty pricey but I k now I need to go ahead and get those things while I can. This video on vacuum sealing the flour for long term is very handy. I will use this way for sure. Flour was one of the items I ordered. Thanks so much from your newest subscriber. Love your interesting and very useful videos but have only watched 2 since I found you...God Bless you.

Wow! Thank you so much for this video. I just bought a better vacuum sealer to do this. I'm in Germany and it is getting nearly impossible to get flour. I went to 3 stores today and was only able to get 1 kg of pizza flour. I want to preserve every bit of my stock pile correctly. Again thank you! Please take care and keep prepping! Liebe Gruß aus Der Eifel Jacqueline 😊

I use mylar potato chip bags to store flour, cornmeal, etc.. A bag of flour just fits an 8 oz chip bag.. They are easy to vacuum and seal.. Your method is great for smaller amounts..

No kidding! Flour was off/on hard to find this year. I use whole wheat flour for breads and that sours quickly. Thank you, and thank you to your commentators for the bay leaf and backwards paper sack suggestions.

Thanks for the video. What about throwing the flour into the freezer after it is vacuum sealed instead of before? Might be easier to fit into the freezer, and probably no condensation problems. Let’s go Brandon

Amazing! thank you so very much for this. We have been buying flour as we could, whatever kind it was when we found it. Just bought a vacuum sealer and am putting flour in the garage freezer right now. Will do as you say and leave it there for a few days before doing this with the sealer. This is such a useful piece of knowledge to have.....thank you for sharing it with us! Take care, be safe and remember to breathe!

I tried this out this morning. Works like a charm. I actually had a new 5# bag of bread flour I hadn't opened yet, froze it over night, took it out...nice and dry later this afternoon. Put it into a gallon freezer (sealameal) bag and vac'd it after I'd opened and taped it. Worked like a charm. Thank you so much!!

I vacuum seal flour in mason jars. Put a cupcake paper in the top so it doesn’t go into the vacuum. Use the food saver sealers for wide mouth and regular jar and the food saver cordless vacuum sealer. It saves wear and tear on my big food sealer . Also I freeze the flour too and sometimes I put the bay leaves in also

Hello, I consider myself an advanced prepper and recently found your channel. I find it very useful information without a lot of fluff that others stuff into there offerings. I am a FF/Paramedic/ 37 yr Florida State Certified exterminator here. Excellent advice concerning freezing of flour in the freezer. This should kill any weevils in your flour, same goes for rice weevils or any stored pantry pest including spices as well. Great advice as well as to using a paper bag when sealing. The only recommendation I could possibly add is an oxygen absorber in the bag, probably over kill, but we are talking about food you and your family are relying on to survive. The Bay leaf idea somebody mentioned I would have never thought of but any grandma's recommendation carries solid weight in my book. Just my "10" cents (hyper inflation) anyway. A food grade silica free diatomaceous earth can easily be added to any grain to easily kill any insect by the way. The trick is finding food grade diatoms free of silica. Diatoms work as a desiccant, cutting an insects cuticle thereby dehydrating the skeletal mass. Smooth edged diatoms such as pool filter diatoms will not work. There is NO pesticide ingestion action here so no worries for humans. There are inhalation issues when using non food grade or pool diatoms or any diatom that has silica in it. Silica cannot be expelled from your lungs so it should NOT be inhaled!

How do you store rice without causing botulism? Apparently things that have the least little bit of oil in it can cause this! ? Flour even has a tiny amount.

The only "Store Bought" flour I ever use is the "unbleached" OR genuine "Whole Wheat"! But, living in a productive farming region, it's always easy during harvest time to buy the freshly harvested Wheat berries right from the farmers that grew it!!!

This is what I’ve been looking for for my flour! Thank you! When I get the smaller bags of beans I cut a little tab in the bag then vacuum seal like you did with the flour. Keeps cooking instructions with them. Rice and pinto beans I can cook in my sleep. The other ones are good to have ideas for.

Hey Suz, I do this also. I saw someone do this on a video and I can't believe the time saving method. I also do rice this way. It's just hubby and me and I have never bought 20, 30, 50 pounds of rice or beans. I stick with the 1 and 2 pounds and it works just fine. I even put more than one bag of rice or beans in a food saver bag to save space.
