I wanted to tell you how glad I was to find this video. I am 64 years old with arthritic hands, so my wife has to help me slip this on, but the best thing for someone on a fixed income is that you saved me 20+ dollars. Your folks must be very proud of you. I know I would be. Thanks very much!

Bill Craig I think the trick is to use a old sock. I've got loads of unused pair of socks I got as Xmas presents.

U alive bro ?
Hi again. I have just realised you posted this in 2012. It is now 2018. Respect. You are way ahead of your time. You have another subscriber.
I have been carrying my phone and ipod in a bag slug around my neck for over a year now and am begining to get teased for it. Your idea is simply brilliant. Thanks howtostu!
I'm am a seamstress and was going to make a arm band like they have in the stores but this idea is shear genius. Thank you for sharing!!!
Nice one. To all out there who think it will slip, IT WILL NOT. U just need to slide the phone between the two layers and that was the precise reason the sock was pulled back within itself.
This worked perfectly. I just grabbed an old dress sock and went for a 3 mi run. Thanks for the tip!
Amazing! Thank you so much for posting - after returning two different bands that wouldn't fit my comically huge phone this worked like a charm. And was only $3! Thank you!!
FREAKING ingenious!!! Thank you for this! Making one now!
Thank you for this bro. Thank you very much. I was in the maker for my first armband and was looking for reviews. This is way better.
Never found an armband that fit my super skinny arms but this just works well! Thanks a lot Stu, you make my runs a whole lot better :D
Was about to buy a $25 armband at target and pulled up this video in the aisle. Awesome idea and i got the exact same pair of socks at target too haha...the design is sick
I was buying one tomorrow. I think I'm going to cry... Love it!
Awesome man, was expecting some high level arts and crafts but you just answered it with such a simple solution haha
So happy to see this: so simple, yet effective. One can change designs, depending on mood. I haven't tried it yet, but I might put a small safety pin to secure the top, just in case. Thanks you so much for sharing the information. Will make good "stocking stuffers." Good delivery: short and to the point!
Hey Diana! I'm glad this inspired you to come up with such a nice alternative to a traditional armband! I'm sincerely happy with your success! :) Thanks for your input and your view! -Stu
Stu, this is absolutely perfect. I use a holder that scratches my arm with the velcro, cuts off circulation sometimes, has metal eye holes which stain my arm as I sweat in the run and as you point out, cant be washed. Thank you. My next run is in 2 days and will be with a sock on my arm.
Awesome!!! Definetly reccomend this!!
Thank you for this video! I would never have thought of doing this. I got on KZread to look at reviews for armbands, but I couldn't find anything I liked well enough to spend the money. This way was free! I used a lycra-type sock, which is great because it stretches thin enough to sort of see the screen, and I can use the touch screen through the sock. Also, like you said, it can be washed. Overall, I would recommend this over purchasing one. Thanks again!
That is brilliant! Cant believe i didn't think of that!
Thought it was a real neat idea; and cheep!! GOOD JOB. Thanks for saving me some money!!!!
Hey Lindsay! Haha aww thanks! I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor! Of course, no problem! I'm glad I could help! :) Thanks for your input and your view! -Stu
Wow man, this is amazing. Great idea. Thx for sharing.
saved me $6.99 and 2 weeks of waiting, thank you man! owe ya
I just spent 30 minutes making a duck-tape case for my ipod, I came to this video trying to figure out how to make a strap for that case and you just cut out the middle man, brilliant!
That's super cool and creative! Great job!
Such an amazing idea, thank you!
Cant find my case this morning. Thanks for helping me out!!!!
I have to say, this is quite the ingenious method!
Thanks! I'm glad you decided to give it a try! I think you will like it! :)
Hey Patrick! I'm glad this helped! Happy running! :) Thanks for your input and your view! -Stu
Great Idea...I did the same after finding a written article on this, but went a bit farther. Took the extra length like you but sewed a rubber band on the bottom and the top so it holds a bit better and it's easier to slip on cause I sewed half the top together. For waterproofing I put my cell in a ziploc...it's waterproofing for a few cents (no I don't use my earbuds while cycling, but I do listen to music).
Holy cookie, that is brilliant!
Great idea! This just saved me some $$$. Thanks very much for sharing.
I have a iPhone 7 Plus and no phone case fits to it but your video saved my life/money many thanks.

Worked like a charm! I can even use siri with the apple headphones to do stuff! Used an old sock so this was free for me! :D
That is such a clever idea!
Very clever and useful - even if you're not out running. There are many times when I'm out and about and don't have a pocket to hold my phone or ipod.
WOWWW!!! i DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! The last part when you slipped it on…I thought there was much more steps after you flipped the sock over half way.

Going to do this ! Tired of caring my phone on my hand. Thumbs up!
I like thee socks. Amazing!
very creative.. thanks... good job.
Thanks a lot, man.
For everyone playing Fallout 4 but don't yet have the money for the Pipboy edition (or don't want to open it when you do), use this same technique but after covering your phone with the outer layer, use a pair of scissors to cut around the edges of the screen (for obvious reasons, I wouldn't recommend an exact-o knife). While it's not as aesthetically pleasing, it serves as a functional Pipboy and it's a whole lot better than just picking up your phone to look at the app.

After going through two socks because they kept ripping, I learned that duct tape, cardboard, and an old belt case was a whole lot more durable and comfortable. Maybe I should make a video on how to make one.
