I've got to give it to Steve Jobs. The way he introduced the iPhone was so elegant and well thought out. He added humor yet kept everyone on the edge of their seat for knowing more. He was right. The iPhone truly did change the 21st century. 👏👏

I don't agree that was the most important feature, and it definitely wasn't BY FAR. That feature was just the result of the whole physical UI change of the phone, which made it easy to use not only for calling and messaging, but plenty of other things as well, and one of them obviously being browsing the internet.

Some of us knew! I was there, and struggling trying to create apps for Windows CE and it was hellish. Apple was still skittish about opening up the entire API for app development in those day, preferring to point developers to a java environment for app deployment, but once the iphone was jail broken, and alternative app stores starting popping up, Apple learned the error of their ways and opened up the app store. The rest is history

I will be honest, I was there for the unveiling of this and at least as far as my party and myself were concerned, we had absolutely no idea. There were rumors of a widescreen iPod, but the iPhone was a total shock. Looking back now on what a pivotol moment this was in terms of electronic inventions and communication... I still can't believe I was lucky enough to be there and in the same room, witnessing it go live for the very first time. I will never forget this moment so long as I live :)

It wasn't being able to touch the screen which was unheard of (in fact Apple already made a touchscreen device in the past - the Apple Newton), it was the 'multi-touch' technology which made the touch screen on the iPhone far superior to touch screens on other devices.

Shane Gremory that’s a fair point, but I mean I live in a relatively affluent part of London and the newest iPhones are still considered overpriced for what they offer in comparison to other phones running android. I’m an apple man through and through but they know a devoted audience when they have one and so they can hike up prices without losing sales. It’s basic economics.

Which is a shame because in reality the iPod was a much more innovative, much more ORIGINAL product that Apple designed themselves. The iPhone is good but it had many flaws until iPhone 4 came out, and many technologies they used weren't actually their own creations. iPod was more innovative and it was so from the very start in 2001.

But I’m glad I didn’t get my first iPhone till my second year in college. I got to live my highschool and half of my college years not glued to my phone 24/7

Google User look, I’ve been a google fan boy for a long time. I’ve owned a nexus 4,5,6p,pixel. For the first time I bought an iPhone. I went with a XsMax. The screen blows the water out of any pixel phone I’ve had. Battery life is double at least my pixel. Not to mention customer service. When the pixel 3 came out, that giant plastic turd was damn near the same price. They lost me. No regrets.

I love how every single word he spoke is still relevant today. This moment changed the world forever. Quite possibly the most iconic moment of the 21st century.

I’m watching this on my iPhone XS Max and I didn’t know it had some of these features!

Steve is so good on presentation that makes apple nowdays keynote looks boring.

I remember looking at the internet on my flip phone around then and thinking "In a few years time, I bet the internet will become so much easier to look at on a phone." PDA (smartphones) were mostly used by scientists, PC enthusiasts etc. but now they are used by common people to put selfies on Instagram and text tweets on Twitter.

The apple stylus was not introduced for operating the Phone. That was designed to draw on a screen (like the iPad pro) instead of using a pen on a drawing device that shows the result on the screen like is used in design technology. There still is no stylus needed for any Phone or iPad.

It’s crazy that even though I’m using an iPhone 13 right now…. Watching Steve Jobs do his thing and sell the OG iPhone makes me want to buy an OG iPhone when it comes out… that’s how you know Jobs was an amazing salesman. The iPhone 1 has been out forever but this video still sells it to you very well.

It really shows how crazy it is that with all the iPhones that have ever been released, the core purpose of the phone never changed. That’s how you know it’s a good product. Phone, email, internet communicator. That was the purpose of the iPhone and it’s still the purpose today just with a lot of added features. Steve Jobs was a man ahead of his time and I’m grateful to have grown up in a world with him in it.
