For those who took a drink every time I said the word 'difference,' may god have mercy on your soul.

I love how Marco is encouraging critical thinking when approaching art. Often it's easy and safe to robotically copy what's in front of you. Marco, on the other hand, understands how to interpret a scene in an artistic manner - and with purpose. It can be quite challenging and unnatural at first, sure, but is a necessity in any of our art.

Can we just appreciate how well done and edited this video is?! It's not just a drawing while him explaining. There are visual animated lines to help explain his point. There's the repainting of the "good" paintings into ones without the "difference" element to help prove his point.
Your art style is crazy good. Feels almost dream-like.
This is one of the most important things that artists need to know. At first I used to thini that as long the drawing is realistic or matches the reference it's perfect. But in reality design is essencial. It can happen by making relation between what we're painting and abstract shapes/colours... Etc

This is so true! I started with realistic painting and sticking 1:1 to a reference because I was learning how things look like and how to paint them first but I got stuck on it and not so long ago I realised how much it's messing up paintings instead :D Designing while using references - that's the goal, because that's what makes paintings amazing :) (plus storytelling for illustrations and that needs a lot of designing :D)

Yeah! I never even thought of it but now I'm SOOOO glad I found this video. He describes it so well. This will be essential for the background paintings I want to make!
Laughed at the "draw the rest of the owl" reference. Thanks for this video.

"draw the rest of the f-in owl" is something that reminds me a lot of school. "A is this and B is that. Now solve this problem without having what i just said consolidated in your head because I didn't make any examples"
this is like the advanced lesson of "avoiding tangents", design is really what makes or breaks a drawing! thank you for sharing your knowledge
I cannot believe my eyes how much grace your paintings have, they're so vibrant that reality looks quite boring afterwards. Thank you for these painting suggestions.
Best art teacher ever 🤝
Great, thank you! I've been doing landscapes lately and am still in "copy what I see" phase. I'll start adjusting composition. Thanks for sharing this!
I love how today's artists are adapting to Painterly style , it gives so much personality than the smooth renders in my opinion... Was afraid to go with this style as people might think of it as incomplete and not rendered enough but then I came across martin and marco and now am confident about and don't render that brush strokes that I leave intentionaly... Thankyou so much for making it a standard .
That blender implementation was such a big brain move 👌
I keep coming back to this vid from time to time. The colors draw me back each time, they're lovely
Outside of how well you teach, I just want to say that your art is easily some of the most beautiful and inspiring stuff on this platform
Marco is the saviour of my art.
I always recommend people to get into more than one artistic hobby. I never really got these concepts for drawing until I started playing guitar and trying to construct riffs and songs. Music helped me realize that's a fine balance of creating a pattern and altering that pattern into new and unexpected things. Drawing and guitar have both helped me significantly with writing to, especially when it comes to pacing and "trimming the fat".
This could be the number one art life hack video on the internet for intermediate artists who feel like they are "plateauing" and don't know how to evolve.
Love dropping stuff into photoshop from blender! Clever use of resources! And that’s a lovely painting; Your use of color is fabulous
Woah finaly Marco Bucci upload again, thank you for your knowledge as always
Why is this channel so underrated Smh
Every video of yours makes something in my brain click istg you're the best painting teacher on youtube for me
4:30 Almost thought I was gonna get stick bugged for a moment there
That Blender tip is mindblow!
Difference is the secret of compelling arts!
you make a huge effort for demonstrating your point, you're a great teacher sir.
You are soooooooooo good at what you do! I don't paint but I view your videos from a physics standpoint as well as a musical one. Keep it up!
this is exactly what I'm looking for. I was watching Ghibli film (The Wind Rises) and tried to study the environment art and I noticed there's a lot going on, like I'd see some red and blue tints in the grass, ground, etc. What made me click in this vid is the thumbnail looking similar to what I noticed. Such a nice vid!
Your explanations of color theory are especially helpful.
To be fair, bunnies are a sure-fire way to make me interested in something. So, well done to get me through in only 10 seconds. My eyes, most definitely crave cute fluffy bunnies.
The way you explain things and make abstract concepts tangable is just something else. Thank you so much again!
One of the best art tutorials I've seen. thank you
I need more Bucci Ghibli studies in my life
thank you so much for your videos.... even the old ones are amazing! as a young artist who’s trying to learn how to paint, i usually find tutorials overwhelming and struggle to process any information, leaving me frustrated. however your videos are always very informative yet very easy to process! they’re very entertaining as well and you seem to have a really great passion for art :) thank you!!
Fortune enough to find your teachings !!
What a surprise i just watched spirited away for the first time yesterday and i did notise that ''Difference'' too..
i reallly REALLY LOVE THE COLOUR PALETTE its so gooooooodddd
When art becomes science . You are the best at explaining man . 🤘🤘🤘🤘
You are a great teacher Marco!
That man is literally my hero
Your flow of explanation is concisely well distributed! Great job, it’s so easy to follow. I really love your artworks-they are eminently distinct from other artists, and I really admire your paintings ‘cause they look like they’re traditionally painted! 💖 God bless you, and keep up the good work!
This is really helpful! Thank you! 💚
Even as a 3D Artist I am taking notes.
Thank you for making content on KZread, youre an inspiration and what made me get back to drawing and realise how fun painting is, keep up the amazing work, thank you so much for all you've done these past years
I can't believe I don't have to pay for these kinds of tutorial. The video by far is only 58k views, so underrated. Make me feel even luckier to have found it. Thanks Marco!

Your videos are so simple but full of information, tips and tricks. I love your work! Keep it up!
So much good information right here. You are a gift to us artists who are still figuring it out. Thank you!
Great stuff, Marco!
BEAUTIFUL ... thank you.
I always get so excited when I see a new tutorial from you. I swear I've learned more from you than any other artist/online teacher I've had -- and more than most of my professors in art school. I love your paid courses, too. The planes of the head one totally changed my approach to portraits, and I just bought your colour course and am STOKED to dive into it.
This is such a helpful video - thank you!
Your videos are so good at explaining a point clearly in a short time.
At 3:14 seconds, I exclaimed in amazement!
Just. Mind blowing Marco. You are super talented and i learnt a lot with this. I always do face this problem of not having enough detail but not being able to change that in the right way. Thank you so much. You rock 💯
Every single one of your videos just blows my mind. Your color and lighting videos really helped me improve. Thank you so much!
Great videos, I enjoy your explanations and style.
thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!
Mr. Bucci, I want to thank you for your insightful and easily understood art instruction videos. I love the humility that you have paired with your integrity and ability. My story is a complicated one involving oncologists and a ‘life restructuring’ of sorts. You give me more hope and inspiration than I could have ever imagined. So often we go about our lives hoping to have a positive effect on others, and not being sure if it even matters. Your guidance and instruction matter and I’m sure I speak for many. With all sincerity from my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Always the best man. You’re videos are my favorite out of any.
Thank you for everything Marco, you are the man!
Thank you so much for these essentials videos. I’m actually a watercolor artist, not a digital artist but I didn’t go to art school so I missed learning a lot of these more subtle but still vitally important principles that you don’t tend to learn about in most art videos on KZread. So again thank you thank you!
This is incredible Marco sir, just incredible! I've been focusing on composition for 2 whole weeks now and i instantly felt that this just unlocked something new in me. Thank you! Blender was a nice touch. Oh man, i gotta learn blender. But i feel like the earliest i can get around to it is about 6 months. So that's like next year. Damn.
Cogently presented, and packed with excellent observations along with interesting techniques. Also, I like your finished piece. Thank you!
I learn so much from you you’re a good teacher thank you ❤️🙏
Marco you are an excellent teacher. I started following you in the ancient days of the internet only because I liked your art, but with time we all discovered that you really have a great way of translating very complex and subtle concepts into clear (and fun) words.
