Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Join us at the US Chrome and Line 2 Line booths at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show as we show you how to make your used pistons better than new with this special coating, that only cost $38 per position. We also catch up female motorcycle road racer Jesse Capizzi and the world’s quickest and fastest motorcycle drag racer, Top Fuel Nitro Bike legend Larry “Spiderman” McBride to get their take on the high quality piston and cylinder coatings US Chrome has to offer. Please leave us your thoughts on this outstanding coating.

I'm gonna try them soon. Don't forget there are other ways to expand a piston. You can knurl it. I've done it with a needle gun on a wore out continental. Still running my forklift.

I WILL be checking out LINE2LINECOATINGS, thanks for the coverage. I run more NITROUS in my GS than most competitors and I am certainly looking for that extra edge. May even try it in one of my Dyna engines. Time will tell.

I had a yamaha gp1200-R that had Nikasil coated cylinders. Clogged jet caused a lean condition in cylinder 1. Cooked the piston, broke the rings and destroyed the head. The cylinder still looked new with the cross Hatching like the day I built it. FYI, the cylinders are not repairable at home. In fact it's nearly impossible to find someone to repair a nikasil cylinder. They will just sleeve it with a cast sleeve

I did my first piston coatings in 1981 on a 81 SRX , with the chrome bores, so no oversize pistons were available . I was working at a Military contractor, who was building the navy guns and missile launchers. So they had the best platings and coating know to man. I got ahold of the coating that was used on the gun slides. This was a dry film coating used on 6 and 8 in gun slides. Little did I know at the time that I was probably the first person in the world to do this on a Piston. I coated my pistons so they had a slight press fit. As you ran the engine the coating would conform to the cylinder and that little 440 never had a piston problem again.

Do you need special tooling to hone or bore after the coating?

  • @tribal6974

Yes of course. If I remember correctly you have to remove Nikasil first to be able to hone or bore. That is the step you need special tools and replating service isn't really cheap, sometimes it can cost as much as a cylinder.

But if you want to nikasil plate your cylinder for street use, I don't think you will ever need to replate it. I own a 2 stroke with aluminium-nikasil cylinder and it doesn't even bat an eye.

No, but less play means less vibration of the piston and that spares also bearings and rods etc..... so it takes longer before fatique cracks will form .......... For example I had one customer which had service life of piston of 1.5 hour in off road 250cc 4 stroke bike with 0.002" play....when reducing play to 0.00005".....piston life increased to 30 hours ....

@@needmetal3221 need special running in procedure........ First start only couple of seconds running...... cool down... couple of times untill it can run and get it to work so piston rings can be bed in..... After doing couple of cylinders this way , together with mechanic ( good friend) he sometimes did 2th or 3th time running engine at idle with gentle throttle wacks untill at idle it started lowering rpm..a sign of piston starting becoming too big... Stop engine..cool down and again.....4th or 5th time....ready to roll. But always before riding hard...heat up engine gently till right temperature...
