OK, so what we've learned today is that Pudding Mountain is actually impossible because custard does not have the structural integrity to hold itself together in too large a quantity.

I think it's doable if you just add some gelatin, and maybe some cinderblock shaped cookies for structural integrity, texture and taste.

You gotta put the caramel on the bottom of the containers before you put the pudding into it, that's how it gets partially fused with the pudding. It still is usually gooey anyways, just gotta wait for it to solidify a bit before pouring the pudding mix onto it, maybe pouring in a spiral pattern if you wanna be super technical about it

I think Alvin did miss a part of the recipe: The caramel top. The caramel sauce is supposed to be put in (I E) the bucket first to cool off and solidify, afterwards you put the pudding in. When you now put the pudding out, it has the caramel top. Disclaimer: i would never expect this trick to even barely work with the giant mountain, as it is just too huge to keep itself together.

It's really just a flan in American English. I'm guessing that, aside from the egg issue, the pudding bucket from Japan had extra gelatin and other stabilizers to make sure it would maintain its shape, which for a big monster like that is more important than taste. I'm also a bit surprised Alvin never added the caramel sauce to the bottom of the containers. The sauce going in first is why the top of a flan is stained brown.

All this reminds me of, specially with the sad results of the king pudding falling apart, is of the assassination classroom episode where they made a literal pudding mountain by adjusting the density of each layer so it doesn’t collapse on itself

Toriko was bonkers...I was reading the manga for awhile and let me tell you the whole concept of the world of Torko is absolutely nuts. Heck Torko and his pals use their special abilities by burning kilo-calories and that's why they eat so dang much...Toriko himself LIVES in a house made entirely of edible material and has to have it frequently rebuilt because he eats the house as he walks through it on the daily that he's there. The series is finished, it got wrapped up in a hurry sadly because it wasn't doing as well as Shonen Jump wanted it to and so the creator had to speed-run the ending a bit so it didn't just end suddenly like some do. I highly recommend reading it if you are interested in the idea of a world of fantastical plants and animals as well as outlandish abilities used to fight battles as well as cooking battles. Heck the preview from when they were pushing it for Shonen Jump had Toriko fishing and snapping a branch off a cigar tree and lighting it by snapping his fingers...a real Jojo move like how Star Platinum lit Jotaro's cigarette during his poker match with D. Arby.

Great to see such a great shounen get some love! I got into the manga a while ago and I'm currently at the landmine arc, pretty messed up to have multiple chapters of Toriko blown up without any dialogue, but it adds to the theme it's going for, so I don't mind.
