The problem is if your song is not loud enough, like -20, -30. Some platforms will apply limiters, boosting the volume all over the place and could, theoretically, destroy your mix.
We appreciate you Devvon forreal! You're a gem🔥
As always you got the best videos bro! Keep it coming!!
On FIRE, keep them coming🔥🔥🔥
Thank you Devon for the content love your Channel🔥🔥🔥

thanks for the help brotha🙌
Much love bro! Helpful video 💯
That Kim Possible-Ringtone gets me every time ! Big ups to your work and effort !
Awesome video!!! The thing about that analyzer too is that you can basically hear how it’d would sound on each platform, which if you don’t want them to turn your song down, you can mix the song perfectly by controlling frequencies so it is as wide, punchy as possible, etc. Great vid bro!
This is great, thx fam
Thanks for this!!
Danggggg I’m learning so much! I hate engineering but you making it fun and easy to learn! 🤘🏾💯
Thank u Devon!
This is amazing!
This was extremely useful 🙏🏾
Thanks! Great Vid!
The Weeknd’s latest album on Spotify is -9 integrated LUFS and it’s nice and loud. Also, note that people who turn Audio Normalization off will get whatever LUFS you mastered your track to originally, so if they’re trying to turn up the volume of your album when they listen to it but you mastered it to -14 LUFS it’ll stay quite even if Audio Normalization is off. I believe that the most important standard to follow when mastering for streaming services is keeping tracks under -1.5 to -1 TPdB, because like you said you might run into distortion and they would have to turn your track down by 1 to 1.5 dB regardless of what loudness setting a user chooses or whether they have Audio Normalization on or off.

Hilarious lol Devons great
Whenever he says, “this is one of my songs” I always jump for my headphones 🔥🔥🔥
Anyone else catch the fire Kim possible textone around 7:39 .... 🔥 anywho another video showing me how much I still have to learn great information but also great explanation
I recently performed a small test involving LUFS where I took a mastered drum loop, created and mastered my own drum loop that was similar, and then compared the meters and both loops came out at around -11 LUFS, seeing this video is just more confirmation I am on the right track! Also if anybody wants to steal this test idea it is a quick easy way to compare levels and you can do it with any instrument/sample. 😎
Woowwwww......thanks so much Devvon you give it all free? That's crazy. I usually get my output ceilings at -1. I will try your method it sounds logical to me. Grateful

Mackenson Petit -1 is fine!!
I put one of Wale’s songs in ozone 9’s reference for a master, and when I gain matched it distorted the hell of my track because of how loud it was. This was clearly analog summing implemented into HIS master a lot of folks sleep on that tbh. You can still get your music to streaming levels without this technique but just thought I’d chime in lol 💯
thanks devvon.kindly show us how you mix and level instruments

side note: this mix is good af
Honestly -9 /-8 I've noticed gives me the the most competitive sound and sounds fine nice and loud on all the platforms

I know we are discussing LUFS right now, but how were you able to get your RMS levels that high while keeping the LUFS around -12?
That Kim Possible ringtone🤣
And do those templates work wit audacity
Would rather use the curve view on that izotope
How much are those isotopes plugins
Do the templates come mastered ?

TRAVIS SCOTT SICKO MODE IS -7 LUFS AND IT SOUNDS GREAT
Do a 6lack tutorial bro
Nice. I been targeting - 14lufs and using loudness penalty plugin but being disappointed. Now that I know it's okay to go - 10lufs (not avoid it) this may change the way I mix. thanks

You can go to -8 lufs you do hip hop g a lot of those records are hitting that
@francisbawasanta6310

@@KeenApollo Thanks! All the tutorials online never really expand on genre specific lufs info. I been mixing and trying to hit - 14 lufs and it never hits. This is good info. When I go - 8 I'm always worried the streaming companies are going to squash the file down to nothing. I'll try that...

They normalize at -14 so yeah as long as your not distorting push your track to -8

Fun fact, -14lufs is quite low and it doesn't give songs enough dynamics.
okay so, when I reference my master with another song mine will be around -10lufs and it is still quiter than commercial records, theyre like at 8/9 ? anyone got any advice
@MARKMAURIKS
3 жыл бұрын
yeah, some of them are even -6 -7, but don't go that low, they got all the good equipment, perfect mixes etc.
These streaming platforms give mainstream artists a loudness boost while compressing the shit and bringing down the songs of independent artists, believe me

No we think that because we cant mix as well as a veteran engineer working in a great treated room on great monitors lol
Does Loudness Penalty: Analyzer is legit when checking if your song is loud or quiet?
@gusdee4844
3 жыл бұрын
Its more for how much each dsp will lower ur song. Its pretty spot on when comparing on say youtube and when youtube is highlighted on the analyzer. Just dont listen to people saying "uPLoAd iT aT -14 LuFs cUz tHeY LowEr iT".. upload it as loud as u need it to be, usually -9 LUFS or lower so its comparable to commercial records.
@alfonsbarcelon
3 жыл бұрын
@@gusdee4844 so its not legit then?
@gusdee4844
3 жыл бұрын
@@alfonsbarcelon not sure what u mean but its legit, and helpful. KZread and all platforms are going to lower ur song no matter what. All it does is allow u to hear how low it'll sound after u upload. Then u can compare and reference with commercial records and note how low it makes their song. After that u tweak ur song/LUFS and get it to a comparable level if needed. Just make sure ur LUFS are around -8 to -9 and itll compete with the pros. Dont listen to people who say to upload at -14 LUFS cuz the platforn lowers it to that level anyway. Its not the same and we wonder why pros always sound so loud, its because they upload it loud lol
yoo, how the hell do i bring down the LFUS, if i bounce my master and its hitting at -9 or -8 LUFS do i go to my master chain and take the limiter threshold down or what?
@kaisersoze9488
3 жыл бұрын
What I normally do is hit around 5 lufs and at the master volume leave between -7.94 and -8.48 then bring the threshold down in the master limiter plugin to compensate the volume loss without clipping and get a nice loud volume then check with the loudness meter analyzer to see if I comply.

You are the one like Keanu Reeves.
your annotations say "Lust" instead of "LUFS" btw

Ok so we dont know. Mind explaining why and/or providing an alternative 🧐
@HelpMeDevvon

Well here’s the thing if you bring in a reference a commercial song that you are trying to match sonically or compete with you can analyze how that song reacts to the tonal control to see if you’re sonically In a similar place or similar so I totally disagree with u it just depends on how u use it and if u figure it out it’s super powerful
thanks devvon.kindly show us how you mix and level instruments
