Hello everyone!!
In this video we are going to make rubberband powered plane.
Usually rubberband powered planes are made using balsawood and are powered by sport rubberband but we have tried to make it using easily available materials.
We have used bamboo sticks to make the structure of the plane. The wings ,vertical and horizontal stabilizer and the propeller blades are made out of 2mm thick thermocol sheet which we have cut using foam cutter. The foam cutter consists of nicrome wire which is operated at 7.4v.
The length of body of the plane is 31cm, wingspan is 39cm long. The diameter of the propeller is 18cm.
The propeller is made using bamboo stick and we have drilled a hole at the centre using normal dc motor. To hold a propeller we have made a tube using A4 size paper and we joined it motor stick by drilling a hole in stick, tying it with thread and applying superglue but you can directly tie a thread over the propeller mount instead of drilling holes. For driving the propeller we have used normal rubberband which are connected in series and to attach it to propeller we have made hook out of 1mm thick rod. Also we have used some beads as a spacer between propeller and tube . All the bamboo sticks are glued using super glue and the wings of the aircraft are connected by hot glue. The wings of the aircraft are made using 2mm thermocol and are given some curvature.
You may need to add some nose weight to get proper balance and try different combination of rubberband to get better results.
