Hi Everyone !!
In this video we have assembled our homemade rear axle of an rc car.
The rear axle consists of differential, driveshaft and gearbox. Most of the parts are made from forex sheet.
The differential is the mechanism which helps th car while taking a turn. The differential consists of five gears i.e 2 spider gears, 2 side gears and 1 ring gear. The spider gears are salvaged from old printer ,the ring and side gears are crown gears which are salvaged from old toy excavator. The side gears are connected to wheels with the help of 2mm shaft which is removed from normal dc motor.
The drive shaft consists of pinion gear, 2 universal joints and a shaft. The universal joints are made using sketch pens. It can be made using marker or normal ball point pen too. The shaft is 3mm thick and is removed from an old floppy disk drive.
The gearbox is is made using forex sheet and the gears are from old toy and motor which we have used is from DVD player.
The motor is driven by lipo battery and for controlling speed of the motor we have used Arduino based diy electronic speed controller.
The outer casing of axle is made using a forex sheet. The curvature to it is given by heating and bending the forex sheet on pvc pipe. The rear cap is also made by heating and bending forex on spherical surface. All the parts are assembled with the help of screws.
The wheels are remove from an old rc car. Wheels are little bit woobly but it is not intentional since initially we decided to make only the differential but later we thought to make whole rear axle without using bearings.
These rear axle can be used for rc car, rc truck, rc tractor etc.
