I love Rice Krispie treats, I grew up on them and my mom used to make them to send to my dad when he was in Viet Nam. My neighbor took them up a notch by melting some chocolate chips and drizzled it on them. I was babysitting her sons and they kept giving them to me, I wasn't disappointed.

When my son was in kindergarten, the teacher asked parents not to bring in cupcakes as they were super messy. My son asked for rice crispy treats. I piped frosting to look like a package. I’ve also added green food coloring to the melted marshmallow, then made blobs of the rice crispy stuffs and added candy eyes at Halloween. I absolutely love your candy strings and the little bits of color they add!

I make these so often, usually a double batch and have been making them thinner by putting in a cookie sheet pan so they're easier to eat for my toddler grandson. I use extra butter to make them softer and more gooey, and usually just put sprinkles or colored sugar on top so it doesn't melt in. Thank you for the tip about using non stick paper to press them down, that's been my biggest struggle, usually pressing with a buttered spoon for ages to get them smooth and solid!

One of the greatest easy simple treats the world has ever known!! some tips, you can melt the butter and marshmallows in a giant microwave bowl, even easier. My family always adds a big scoop of peanut butter after the butter mix melts. I have never refrigerated it. We like ours softer, so we don't smoosh it much. I cut them smaller, makes them easier to snatch one and eat it before your kids see ya. ;). Good choice, Cheryl!

My grandma used to make these for us. She has this weird martyr complex, so rather than eat the finishes treats, she would stand over the sink with the hot pot and the spatula, drizzling warm tap water into the pan, scraping the sides of it and eating the scrapings. She claimed that was her favorite part. She is a very.. quirky.. woman. 97 and still living on her own, although it's a retirement community. I could tell a new story about her strangeness every day for a year or more.

I have NEVER like the marshmallow version of Treats. Too gooey and sticky. But I do like the peanut butter-butterscotch version, which stay crispy. And I stir in chocolate chips just before putting them into the pan, so they don't melt too much. And it's easy to remember: ½ a jar or peanut butter, 1 bag of butterscotch chips, melted together, use to coat ½ box of Rice Krispies (about 6 cups), and as many chocolate chips as you want. They are not gooey or sticky, they turn out like the inside of a candy bar(Hershey's "Whatchamacallit"). I've had many converts.

Add extra butter. The original recipe called for 1/4 cup butter to 4 cups marshmallows. Then they tried to make them lowfat by doing 1/4 cup butter to 5 cups marshmallows. I found they were hard and not so tasty. I use the 1/4 cup and an extra tablespoon and everyone loves how soft and gooey they are.
