How to make plaster press mold of a clay face mask.
I am showing step by step the whole process of mold making. You can also learn how to use .
You can create multiple copies of your ceramic art or craft. I am also showing how I alternate the shape of the mask that just came out of the mold.
You can use your mask to improve your skills or just for fun.
I use my clay masks to create wall art or to adorn my ceramic creations.

I'm impressed with the topic of today's movie! For the last few days I have been wondering how to organize this type of work. I decided to give my friends and family flower pots with a face, which my children have liked very much so far. I was wondering how you can improve the work on the face in the pot, and here is your movie! - incredible. This is what I ment. Thank you very much

At what stage of drying is your mask at? Bisque fired first. Have you used any sealer on the original before using hydrocal. Thank you.

@@JoannnaMozdzen Hi Joanna, thank you for the response! I was referring to the plastic ring that you duct taped together and pressed into the slab of clay an inch away from the mask. You show it in the video at the 1:20 mark. Where can I purchase / find that? Thank you so much!

Should the plaster mold be secured with something so that the clay impression can be easily removed? Is gypsum to be built for construction purposes, or maybe alabaster? (For artists)

  • @JoannnaMozdzen

You don’t need to secure the mold. The pottery plaster of Paris is the best but you can use any plaster. In the past I was using construction plaster as well.

I'm curious, why do you throw out your clay if it gets even a little bit of plaster in it? I never intend to fire my clay, only to use it for creating moulds. I'd rather not throw away so much clay, since it's expensive, unless necessary to do so.

Plaster in clay creates problem during firing in the kiln. If you don’t fire it , there is no problem.

Thanks, Joanna! This video has inspired me to try this method, which I had never considered before. I went out and bought some hydrocal yesterday, and I'm going to give it a go.
