For style influences i think stuff like Oggy and the Cockroaches or doug tenapel (the earthworm jim creator)'s work match PT's a little more closely than the other examples you've put out. (considering mcpig is from quebec, chances are he actually did take influence from oggy) Also you mention simple shading on peppino but decide to add way more shading on the character examples, shading in pizza tower is very inconsistent, some characters have shading on their bodies, some only have it on their skin, and some dont at all. The common theme when a character gets shading is that its very minimal when it does, look at the stupid rats sprites for example. Characters also tend to not have AA when shaded (first characters pants being an example of what not to do) they either cover a section of the body or dont.

I remember that, in one interview, Mcpig said he watched a lot of Spongebob and read a lot of french comics as a kid when asked about the inspirations of Pizza Tower's art style.

As for the shading situation, in case you're spriting a character that could work as playable, you consider not shading the recolorable part

The artstyle thing im still not sure, like, of course its 90' theme but i dont know exactly, even if he mentioned spongebob, the animation of the older seasons dont seem like the ones on the game for me really And yeah i fucked up the first sprite a lot lmao Ill fix stuff on the next vid tho And btw, now that you mentioned oggy and rhe cockroaches, peppino looks really similar to oggy itself, like, its his fursona or something lol

in few words use a cartoony art style use a sightly pixelated resolution use cell shading use 1 pixel thin pixel pencil and you should be ok (pizza tower actual resolution is 960x540)

First of all PART TWO PLEASE I WISH TO LEARN!!! Second the three of the four sprites have shading on the shirt, hat, and pants, I think you should get rid of it for more accuracy but draw as you wish.

Also I reccomend using pixil art for a free software. It dosent have downloadable palettes but you can customize it to a pizza tower palette

@@Berry_Benderson libresprite is a better free alternative, it works almost the same way as aseprite, or if you want to download like a bunch of random shit to your computer then you might as well try compiling aseprite

there's not a specific speed for ive seen, so i just use aseprite default's one (10 fps or 100 miliseconds, since its a videogame, for mods this wont be a problem, but for animations i would def recomend 12 fps, aka, 71 miliseconds)

I have a problem. When I want to zoom out in aseprite to 50% or more, the canvas starts to blur. How can I fix this?

Yeah aseprite just does that because if not it creates inperfect pixels, there's no way arround it for what i know, if something you could use the map function so at least you have a better idea of how its going
