Goldfish are one of the messiest fish in the hobby, and need at least ten gallons per fish. If they are being properly cared for, they can live about twenty years. They die in 1/20 of that time due to misinformation and improper care. If you want fish in that tank you can get three endlers or possibly a betta, but please move the goldfish into a proper aquarium if they haven’t already died.

Alyson Alt yeah, it’s kind of hard to tell how big the tank is from a video though. I’d even say 2.5 gallons is for more experienced fish keepers that know how to cycle a tank and 5 gallons is better for people new to the hobby.

Poor goldies! These fishes need at least of 10gallons space for one fish and you've stocked them in what I wouldn't even call an aquarium!! This is cruelty to those magnificient creatures. Additionally no filter is equipped. Plants can absorb nitrate, but for messy fishes like goldfish you must hv mechanical filtration as well. They've got red gills and finrot meaning there's an ammonia spike. Thats no less than hell for those goldies. Feeding and survival aren't “only” means of their lives🍃

This video you show me is not a reason or answer to what i was commenting here, it is just another example how bad animals are keept, but its not an excuse to do it the same way. you should treat your pets good and give them a home they can life with enough space to swim, real plants, hiding places and not some crappy bullshit like in this aquaponics video...

These fishes only grow whan they have space. Put it in a lake, it can be 40cm, but here they'll keep their size

However, their internal organs will still continue to grow and be compressed in that small body causing some complications, which by chance can kill the fish in the process. Gold fishes aren't really meant to be kept in tanks as they can live for decades. Heck I've had a gold fish that outlive almost 2 generations of my pet dogs. They're better to be put on ponds. It's better to use guppies or molies on small fish tanks for aquaponics as they are small and very durable. They also feel safe in numbers, so you can somehow overstock them a little bit but add some aeration. I do mini aquaponics as well, and your statement is true, however, we can be a humane fish owner. True, they're just fishes but at least give them a decent life.

@@sevadey they grow until they die, they don't just stop growing and live healthy lives after that.

Please get a bigger tank for them. They also have fin rot, you have to treat them or else it will start eating away at the fish's body, and that would kill them.

You’re supposed to have at least 10 gallons per goldfish! 💔

Those fish have been kept in other small or densely populated tanks with fish that have been attacking their fins.. If someone can find the address of the owner of these fish I know some people that will set them straight

U need a medium, here bricks which can grow nitrifying bacteria, which converts amonia in the water to nitrate for plants.

Please people, do not keep goldfish like this. They really need much more space than what is shown here. I would start off with at least a 30 or 40 gallon aquarium.

Poor fishies, gonna suffer a slow death. The video has good intentions but can you at least use smaller breeds of fish next time? Since you are doing clean food growing, it won't hurt to add some humanity on fish keeping as well. Use smaller breeds of fish and shrimps. Not only will it save the fish, it'll also save you effort, as well as money in the process. I wish you good luck and thank you for spreading aquaponics.

I think this is just the video that I was looking for, shows how to make a very good basic aquarium like a layout just to know how to design one nicely, of course I'd be wanting a much bigger one, but would follow the above concept, loved it. :) Even though I'm rating this a 5/5 for the idea of how to build it, not on choice of tank size (as not very decorative 1/5) or fish type (0/5) :)

Baishakhi Sarkar the concept is great and well put together but you need to upgrade the tank. It doesn’t take much, even just a five Gallon (for a different type of fish like beta) is perfect!
