How To Make Ice Cream With A Frying Pan [DIY Cold Stone] - NightHawkInLight

The weather's warming up! In this video I put together a DIY Ice Cream Cold Plate and make some seriously good ice cream. Give it a try!
It's been brought to my attention that dry ice is not legal in some countries. You can make ice cream in the same way on a thick piece of steel or stone that has been left in the freezer overnight. You just have to work fast because it won't stay cold enough for very long.

Just a general tip - *don't use metal utensils/tools on non-stick pans *EVER**. If you do, you will scrape up and ruin the non-stick coating completely. For non-stick pans, it's best to use plastic, rubber, silicon, or wooden tools/utensils so that they won't ruin the coating. If you have a stainless steel pan with no coating or, better yet, a cast iron skillet like in this video, you're good to go.

Most non-stick pans are also not going to have the thermal mass to work with this. Cast iron skillet every time.

Had this by some street vendor in Turkey, if you plaster the mixture with your chopped strawberrys to make a thin layer like your laying grout over the pan and wait a bit, then use a scraper to scrape up in a single motion, you can form little rolls of ice cream that pack neatly into a cup and can be eaten like finger foods.

Sadly, we had over estimated ingredients so we lost a few dollars, but It was delicious and amazing during the hot season! This is great! If it dosnt work, you can put the pan straight on the dry ice, then take it off and put the towel over it!

If I build one my goal would be to make it under $60 and make something more convenient that the salt and ice ice cream maker I have now. Having a few set up for fund raisers would be great.

you could use water, but the pan must be set onto towel while it us still wet. the water in towel will quickly freeze to conform to underside of pan.

Cool NightHawkInLight I wonder if you could build a cold plate from a pan and on of those Peltier modules. I bet that would be cool for a kid to do without having to mess with the frost bite one can get when using Dry Ice. Cool for grown ups, but I think the Idea of using a pan and on of those Peltier modules would be more kid friendly. Thanks for the video really enjoyed watching it.

I like how he's like: you can use rubbing alcohol but be careful to not get it in the ice cream... but he's fine with the dry ice? Like... None of it is going to touch the ice cream. You don't need to be using expensive alcohol.
