Hi guys!
Christmas is right around the corner, so I'm prepping early this year and making digital download printable christmas cards for my passive income etsy business. I'll show you in depth how I make the files for a printable foldable card (5 inches by 7 inches), how to make a card mockup in GIMP, and how to make a FREE mockup in Photoshop.
Everything in this tutorial for how to making foldable printable cards is 100% Free, (with the exception of the Photoshop monthly fee). But no worries, if you don't have Photoshop you can use GIMP which is a free Photoshop (essentially). I will show you how to create free mockups for foldable cards in both GIMP and Photoshop.
Do you want passive income for christmas too? Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe :)

Don't get me wrong I use Canva for when I need my mind to relax with a very easy to use interface and I just need to whip up something quick :) But we love GIMP over here on my channel!

@@astoldbybrittany4342Thanks for your reply. Do my listing images size need to be 2000 x 2025 pixels so the images are not "cut off" on a smartphone? I noticed some thumbnails for shops are not big enough when scrolling on my phone in the Etsy App.
It's my first time watching your video and I learned a lot! was looking at how to do things in designing my digital products for Etsy. About to open my first-ever shop :) Thanks a lot!

I love all your content. I did not do anything for Christmas but looking forward to creating a store for digital products and your videos have helped shorten the learning curve. I stopped and fixed things as I watched this one and it took me about 3 hours. Thankful!

You're welcome! More to come!
I'm following along with you as I'm also turning my artwork into digital cards, and this is a lifesaver, thank-you! This is the 3rd video of yours that's just a wealth of information. Keep it up, I really appreciate it. By the way, I'm confused conceptually about what you did off-screen, where you "deleted" a portion of the card to fit the berries in the mockup. I'm really confused on how to do that, do you cut a portion of your card image by tracing the outline of the berries, or do you use the magic wand? What tool did you use? Any help would be appreciated because I have a mockup that has more stuff overlapping on the image part than this one!

Hi there, thanks for the love! Really appreciate it. Basically what I did was a command called "select by color". What this does is you can click anywhere on the screen and GIMP will detect what color pixel you clicked on and it will detect any other pixels that match that color then select them all. So basically I told GIMP "select all the white pixels" (which is the card area). This leaves the holly behind. Let me know if that doesn't make sense I'll try to clarify more

@@astoldbybrittany4342 I'll give that a try but that makes sense. Thanks so much for taking the time to explain all this, I can code but I'm a noob in graphic design software!
what you cna do is download it as a pdf print then converted as a jpg

Yes this is an option as well
Small suggestion regarding your intro chapter about Gimp and Photoshop. Have you heard of Affinity Photo by any chance? I'm not here to promote products in any way but I wanted to share this strong contender which has an affordable one-time purchase price. Been using it for a long while now without any regret.

Never heard of it, thanks!! I'm going to look into this.
I am not sure if you mentioned it in the video yet (im around 9 mins in) but did you create the designs traditionally first, then scan and import into Gimp, or did you design the card graphics in Gimp digitally first? They are beautiful. I am a traditional watercolor artist and I hate how my art looks when I scan it in, so I try to find ways to digitally recreate them, but I have such a hard time, even using my drawing tablet. Thank you so much for sharing all this knowledge, too!

These designs were quickly made in Canva, BUT I am also a watercolor artist too and understand your pain!! I actually have a video about how I scan and digitize my original artwork to use in applications like this. Let me know if you have any questions about that if you watch it. Happy to help

Can I use the canva elements to create a card and sell it on etsy
@astoldbybrittany4342

Don't quote me but what I believe to be true is that you can use the elements but you have to transform them in some significant way. You can't just cut and paste an element and sell as-is. Hope that helps.
Is there a template to use for digital download using your own website for commercial use / personal use licenses or do make up your own personal use/ commercial use licenses

I haven't delved into this, could you clarify a little more? Do you mean licenses for people to use my art work?
@cagneyreese7962

@@astoldbybrittany4342 yes, licenses. When u buy digital download it says for personal use ONLY and or commercial use for your own business. I was wondering do u come up with license yourself or if there templates I can buy.
