How To Make Cinnamon
Cinnamon is a spice made from the inner bark of the cinnamon tree. I show how to harvest cinnamon in this video. On a homestead in Hawaii you can grow almost anything and it grows well. Living on an island you have to be as self-sufficient as possible. Growing your own spices is a fun way to add flavor to any garden.

I'd suggest u to pick the cinnamon without cutting the tree then peel the outter bark before drying it. that's how Indonesian's cinnamon harvester doin it. But if there's a good reason of cutting it let me know. But anyway, ur video is pretty educating. Keep making video!

That's exactly what I was wondering. Can you just cut off the outer bark and phloem in strips and not ring the tree (what you do to kill trees by cutting a ring around the tree and taking off the bark and phloem to prepare it for selective harvest) to keep the tree alive and still harvest the cinnamon?

It's really surprising how a bark of a tree can be such amazing spice.
This is very informative. I always thought that cinnamon came from the bark of a bush. But there are also trees too! Incredible! So awesome!

I have never watched cinnamon get taken out from a tree before, very interesting. Funny thing is I didn't even know it came from a tree until I played a video game and got some from chopping down a tree.

I don’t think this is right. Cinnamon is harvested when the plants are much smaller. I mean, who would CHAIN SAW DOWN A GORGEOUS TREE LIKE THAT? When he’s talking, the property owner, as it would seem, keeps correcting the harvester, but the harvester doesn’t really care to repeat or correct his guessed “cinnamon knowledge” info. Looked to me like he’s an American visiting someone maybe in Hawaii, who has just heard that his host has a cinnamon tree. Then it appears he says, “Hey dude, let’s make a video on me getting cinnamon from this tree.” 🙄 Besides, eventually, after saying about a hundred really stupid things, the guy admits he doesn’t know what he’s doing. “Hot chocolate and cinnamon? “ is that all he can say? Not trying to be mean and I truly hope I dint offend but when you search for and see a video on harvesting cinnamon, you kinda expect to see a person atleast half knowledges on and able to really harvest cinnamon. Sorry but I think a lot of brain cells have been damaged. For good cinnamon info, look elsewhere.

@@BlessedBaubles he did it cause it was too close to another tree. That's why. He replied that in someone else's comment.
