Do i still get the benefits of EO even if it's weak hot throw?

An essential oil candle requires same amount of ingredient like a fragrance oil candle? I a mean if I make a candle 150 gr using FO at 8% I use 138 gr wax and 12 gr FO. Same for EO candle ? Or I have to use less EO because is pure .

Great information. Wondering if you do a blend of essential oils and natural fragance oils do you add at the same time? And what percentace of each do you reccomend? Still about 8-10% scent ratio total? Would it be half EO and half FO?

Yes you can put them in at the same time! You'll want to reference the IFRA data sheet for skin safe percentages based on the fragrance you intend to use.

Great video, thanks! I made a 500ml patchouli (pure essential oil) candle and the container cracked half way through burning. Any ideas? Thanks, Mel

I read that certain containers can crack if they get too hot. I could send you the article if you like but I found it on google, so I’m sure you could as well. They said that if you use abrasive materials or chemicals on glass - that it could become porous and break. Lots of more tips but I won’t type an essay lol.

Hi there, can you make your own fragrance oil using a base oil and then adding essential oils?

  • @makesyofficial

You can absolutely use essential oils in candle making. In fact, almost every fragrance oil we offer also contains natural essential oils. Essential oils, especially citrus, tend to have lower flash points than fragrance oils. You need to be aware of your essential oils flashpoint, so that you add the oil to your melted wax when the wax is lower than the essential oils flashpoint. We suggest adding 5-10 degrees F lower than the flash point. This ensures that your essential oil will not burn off, or degrade during the candle making process.

Hi three :) I just tested my soy candles with patchouli and orange essential oils. They smell great! However, after burning and cooling off the pool got darker - more like light brown, like coffee with lots of milk. What may be the reason? Can it be the dark color of patchouli essentail oil? Would it always give a darker wax color after burning? I would be very grateful for you help!

Hi there! It could likely be the darker color of the patchouli essential oil, but citrus oils like orange are very susceptible to color changes when they undergo changes in temperature. This could also be the cause. It would likely continue to give a darker color after burning. :)

Hi I normally pour my soy wax candles with Lavender Essential Oil at around 130 degrees, when using essential oils with your coco-soy wax do you still reccomend pouring after stirring?

Yes! :) Be sure to stir continuously to avoid any uneven cooling.

as you mentioned, essential oils are not as stable as fragrance oils, and when burned in a candle, the essential oil loses it’s aromatherapy properties making it useless for that purpose. why would you recommend using it at all then? also if we were to mix it with fragrance oil then it again defeats the purpose right?

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out! Not all essential oils have a low flashpoint, we currently only carry one fragrance that is 100% essential oil that has been tested. We have a great Istagram Live Video on the difference between Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils. 😊 Chcek it out here -- instagram.com/tv/B8hNU4rn5wH/?hl=en

Hi there, first of all, thanks for a great video. :) I want to make my candles entirely with essential oils. I've tried so many methods but my candles don't smell at all. I use soy wax. I tried adding the essential oils while the soy wax was hot, I tried adding it when it was cold, I mixed it for a long time and paid attention to the 8% ratio, but none of my candles smelled. In the meantime, I can smell other things. :) My essential oils are wasted. I don't know how to do it...

Hi Elvin! We apologies for the delayed response. Your comment got buried. When working with EO's it's definitely a trial and error scenario. Since EO's aren't heat stable, they often won't smell the same when heated. Additionally, Soy Wax is notorious for having low throw even with fragrance. So we'd recommend using a harder wax blend and one with a lower melt point like our Deluxe Satin Soy!

@@makesyofficial Thank you for your response. I'm very glad that I have largely overcome this problem. As you said, soy candles don't smell completely, but I also like the light scent of candles. I would love to use your Deluxe Satin Soy, but I live in Turkey. It seems unlikely at the moment, but let's say maybe one day. 🌷

I am extremely upset. I ordered 4 different essential oils from your company and none of them have a scent. Now after watching this video and you are saying to blend them with fragrance oil I have to buy 4 fragrance oils to actually make my candles have a smell on top of the $132 I already spent on your essential oil line. That is so misleading and I wont be ordering from you guys again. It was a waste of money I could have just used Fragrance oil for my aromatherapy line since thats what you are advising people to do anyway!

Hi Breona! Happy to help. You do not have to blend them with fragrance oils, you may use essential oils on their own, it can just be much more challenging due to their low flash points. If you believe the candles do not have a scent, you may have exceeded the essential oils flashpoint during your making process. Highly suggest you watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4el1LlwY7Lfc9I.html. If you still have questions please reach out to us through the chat window on our website for more help! :)

This is glorious, I have been researching "candle recipes" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Cenadoelyn Candle Contemplation - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my co-worker got cool results with it.
