How To Make Cambodian Beef Lok Lak

Let's be friends:
/ _itsjaynee
Hello everyone!!! My name is Jannie and I am a self-taught cook. I’ve mostly learned from watching my mother and grandmother in the kitchen while growing up. I never knew that my passion for food and cooking ran so deep until I auditioned and competed on season 9 of MasterChef. It was from the show that the nickname, “Vegas Vixen”, was born. My friends have joked around calling me the “Vegas Vixen in The Kitchen” and the nickname stuck. I hope you like my take on well-known recipes as well as the ones I’ve created myself.

    Yum! My parents have hosted many foreign exchange high school students and the last girl they hosted was from Cambodia. She made this for us as one of her favorite dishes from Cambodia, it is so delicious. I have made it a couple of times since then and after seeing this recipe randomly I think I will make it again very soon. So good and pretty simple to make!

    Uhhh this brings back memories, I grew up with a Khmer family and man this was my favorite dish, along with the beef sticks and chicken grilled sticks I forget the name of them but I know you know what I’m talking about. Also the sauce is key for beef lok lak I would drench my rice and beef with it. I tried making it myself based on memory but I didn’t do so well lol it came out too salty ty for the perfect measurements

    Why Cambodian eats sugar and add a lot of it,normal cooking they added salt.even in restaurants the put sugar in the table

  • @JannieLam

    @JannieLam

    3 жыл бұрын

    Well sugar is used to round out the flavor. It’s a balance. However much is used is based on how one enjoys it. Sugar and any other ingredient is optional. Now I can’t guarantee it’ll taste the same but it’s also what cooking is all about. Trial and error. Just like salt, pepper, and any other condiment on a table at restaurants why should sugar be omitted? I hope that answers your questions. 🤗

    Hi Crusty Toes! Idk if you know but Cambodia and Vietnam are neighboring countries so they influence each other on cuisines. So yes Vietnamese ppl have a very similar dish. Oh and fun fact there’s other dishes that are very similar but made slightly different. Thanks for watching! 🤗
