thesweetestjourney.com
Ingredients:
2 Cups Blueberries (340g)
1/4 Cup Water (60ml)
1 Cup Sugar (190g)
Tools:
Glass Mason Jars
Directions:
1. Place berries in a saucepan and mash most of them. Add water and heat over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally until berries are soft and crushed. Once the jam is cooking at a rolling boil, stir in the sugar. Lower heat to medium-low and continue cooking at a boil stirring constantly. Cook for 20 minutes or until the jam thickens and darkens in color.
2. To test for doneness, place a bit of jam on a chilled plate and freeze for 5 minutes. Gently press the jam, it should wrinkle on top.
3. Fill jars with jam and seal them.
| Makes about 10oz. of Jam
How to Sterilize and Seal Jars:
1. Place the lids of washed jars in hot water(not boiling). Place the jars in a pot of boiling water and boil for 5 minutes. Remove jars and lids from water and place on a clean cloth to dry.
2. Once the jars have been filled with jam, close with the lids tightly, and place into boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes.
*Sealed jars can be stored at room temperature. If opened or not sealed, jams should be stored in the refrigerator.

Those complaining about the sugar quantity..... Jam was invented way before refrigerators were commonplace! The sugar is there primarily as a preservative to prevent mold growing and to retain the nice colour of whatever fruit you are preserving. Even in a fridge skimp on the sugar too much and you will likely find mold before you finish the jam. The sugar also helps to thicken the jam. Your result will be a runny spread not a jam with less sugar. It's not like you're drinking the stuff, I hope. Unless you are diabetic this recipe is delicious and absolutely fine health wise. I'm in my third year of making this with great results. Thank you Sweetest Journey!

I agree that sugar helps the jam set. Alternatively, pectin can be used as a stiffening agent. However, sugar doesn’t prevent mold. Leave a jar of opened jam on a counter and return after a week. It will be covered in mold. To prevent mold from growing inside a sealed jar of jam, wash the blueberries in water and vinegar. The vinegar will kill any mold spores on the jam. The water used to seal the jars in this video, just barely covered the lids. For a good seal, the maker should have covered the lids with at least one inch of water. That’s why there was no “pop” when the maker lifted the lid.

Hahaha! It's only gotten worse over the years. Usually, on KZread, I click off the video of the person talks because I can't listen to a 15-minute video that only has 2 minutes of what you need
I've been trying to make Blueberry jam for a few days now, and followed a few different recipes online. All of them basically had the blueberries on the stove top for not longer than 10 minutes tops, and all my jams came out water/liquidy. This is the first time I've seen someone say cook for 25 to 30 mins and it makes so much more sense now.
@firekrackergirl6620

I add some lemon 🍋 zest to mine. And not as much sugar. Came out great.
Kind of fortuitous. I just made blue berry jam yesterday. So so delicious. I did not add that much sugar. I added a little hint lemon juice for tang. Also when water bath canning please allow at least 1 inch of boiling water ABOVE canning jar lid. Happy Canning

@@Scorned to be honest i wouldnt use any sugar at all, the blueberries have natural sugars already and i can imagine it tasting more sugary after caramelizing it, but i cant say anything just yet cuz i havent tried that for myself, i would guess she used half of what he poured it, probably even less.
I LOVE THIS!! This made the best jam ever, the whole family loved it. I’ll never pay for jam again. Thanks for sharing!! ❤

Absolutely amazing recipe, thank you! I just added chia seeds to mine for added nutrients and didn't add as much sugar. Tastes so good.
Super easy recipe. I just finished making it. There was a little left over after I put it into cans, and my husband said it tastes like blueberry pie. Thank you!
I love the music for this it’s so calming and chill and this blueberry jam looks delicious can’t wait to try it
Great video. I will add like others have said, cover the jars with at least an inch of water when doing the the water bath. ALSO!! Don’t tighten the ring on the lid so much before doing so. Just tighten it enough to keep the lid from moving off so that air can escape during the processing. If you tighten as much as the video shows you’ll get a false seal and potentially have air trapped in the jar when storing. You can tell the seal wasn’t that good on the jar in the video because there was a very quiet pop when the jar was opened. You want a good solid POP when opening your sealed jars.
One of my favorite...mmm...mmm!!! Wow!!!
Wow, love the music and the presentation 💙💜💙💜
Short and concise...thanks!
Every time I follow this recipe, my blueberry jam turns out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this!
I just made some and it came out pretty good. I used less sugar and it still came out pretty good, not thick like the store but not to runny and still really good. Thanks for the recipe, nice and simple. I just wish it would have made more than 1.5 small jars worth
Awwwwww yiss I just bought blueberries. I can’t wait to try this because it looked so good in the video! Thank you for sharing.

Nice. Just one comment about the water bath canning: you should use a pot deep enough that the tops of the jars are covered by at least an inch of water (I think that's the recommended depth).

making ur recipe. I used 1/2 the sugar, way to sweet for me, my sauce isnt getting very thick. it is getting darker, what should i do? thx
I love jams
I did this with leftover marc after making blueberry wine. Sure I had to add water in and change the amount of sugar, but I like this better than throwing it into the compost bin.
Looks delicious, thank you. I used a funnel when I put the jam in the jar.. I didn't want to get any of the jam on the rim of the jar. If I did, I would have had to wipe the rim off thoroughly to make sure the lid sealed properly.
Great video !
Great demo, thanks. I just microwave the blueberries until mushy, let cool and consume with whole grain toast and plenty of butter. Probably using twice as much blueberries by not using sugar. But blueberries are awesome for that morning Vitamin C hit.
Great
That intro music made me believe I was watching a "Cooking with Daniel" segment

what a fine quick video.of how to make jam. i have found jam works better because it is easier to spread.with jelly depending on the bread you tear the bread trying to spread it out.this can be real issue with store bought bread.

I added 3/4 cup of brown sugar thinking that should have made it less sweet. Man was I wrong. I should have read the comments first and only put in maybe 1/4 of sugar. Great video to show how to make blueberry jam, check on the consistency and all, but you could definitely use less sugar
Simple, thank you. I did this except for adding the sugar. Fruit already has enough.
