My dad used to build RC model airplanes. When I was a kid, he built an F-35 fighter jet and to make the air hoses that connect to the pilots masks, he wrapped a round black twisty tie wire (like a solid core wire that stayed bent) around a straight piece of the same wire to make it look like a flexible hose and as a kid, that blew my mind because it looked like a perfectly scaled hose. 20 years later I feel like I’m having my mind blown all over again for the same reason…

A good trick for any left over green stuff is to roll it into balls. Over time you can amass quite a collection in a range of sizes and they can be quite useful. Steady Craftin sir!

I use this tool a lot for warhammer. A tip I have is to cover a paper clip section in GS and roll it. Now the cable has a steel core and when bent to shape it stays there. With a few mm paper clip exposed from the GS cable it can be attached more securely to the model, with a pin vice hole. Bending into shapes that hold at one end is possible. And can support some weight like putting plugs / claws on the end of the hose.

I've used the comb method in the past, and what I've found is that they're more consistent if you glue them to a rigid backing so that the "teeth" stay evenly spaced and don't flex. Also nit/flea combs have the finest teeth. Great vid as always Crafsman :)

  • @SenselessUsername

I expect people will be 3Dprinting "combs" (with the teeth at the end joined for consistency, but out-of-plane) for various dimensions/shapes of coils.

I see lots of possibilities here! First, Freerange Chicken could get a hose upgrade! Secondly, in addition to doing corrugated hoses, there's great possibilities for worms, centipeded and snake creatures! Lots and lots of potential! Thanks, Crafsman! Also, you recently gave Toy Polloi a shout out on KZread! Like you, Dave is a great KZreadr worthy of notice! Thank you for that too!

I worked as a vacuum pump and compressed gas guy for years, hoeses come in all sorts of colors. You have the classics rubber in dark red with random black marks, the bright silver low pressure, the off yellow silicone, the thin blue high pressure, the special green one that no one uses, the cherry red with sliver criss cross for flammables. So go nuts with the colors because the colors tell tbe user what theh do.
