    学生時代弓道部に所属していました 最近はカーボン製が主流ですが、竹弓もどちらも品があって美しいなと感じさせてくれます また時間と機会があればやりたいですね

    From the process of making the bows to the ceremony and tradition of using them, this is a beautiful art. Such skill is required at each step, including the slow smoking process. Thank you for sharing! Your videos are relaxing even when they have large machines working, but this video was like 13 minutes of peaceful meditation!

    Watching these gentlemen make this bow , they make it look so easy and simple. But I'm sure they have 1000's of hours training and making them. What amazes me is the simple stuff the get from the outdoors, I'd say 99% if it came from the woods when they started making them hundreds of years ago. And just think of the people that figured out how to make them in the beginning, just like with the Japanese swords, those people were just smart. That's about all I can say about them.     This woodworking is absolutely brilliant - I love the special bench he has for planing the staves, and how he ties them together and creates pressure by driving in the wedges. It would be amazing to spend even a day learning from a bowyer like him. But maybe I can try some of these ideas for clamping in my own work

    A lot of traditional Japanese items were made from Bamboo due to its abundance and sturdiness. From weapons, to armor, buildings, plates, etc. Bamboo was used to make a lot of stuff like how Europe used wood

    As a kid I used to make bows from split bamboo as well, but they tended to crack over its length. Now I see where I made some fundamental mistakes, so thanks! It would be fantastic to know the approximate width of the core and edge strips. ❤

    Excellent video. I also make traditional bows, especially horn composites. Your wrapping, wedges method is also very good for gluing horn bellies to the core.
