How to Make Beaded Toggle Clasps (Seed Beading 330)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This tutorial from The Potomac Bead Company demonstrates how to make your own beaded toggle clasps, using your choice of seed beads and crystals. This uses a few different styles of peyote, and is a great way to create really nice toggles for your pieces, and also gives you the opportunity to match anything. Enjoy!

    Really well done tutorial. Looks really simple, since I already know Peyote. Gonna make a set today for a beaded bead necklace I'm making. Been doing tubular Peyote for some beaded beads. Zipping up a piece of flat sure seems easier. BTW, love the bead mix used on the pre-made sample. When I struggle to get my needle through, I use my jewelry pliers and grab the hole end of the needle to pull through. seems to keep the needle from bending so much or breaking through the needle eye.

    +The Scribe are you using delicas or some other seed beads? You probably want the stitch to be very tight rather than loose

    I follow video tutorials pretty well. This one moved to fast and was confusing. It would have been more helpful if the 11.0 delicas were a different color, just for teaching purposes. I knew that there had to be one more row of delicas on one side, but the video didn't make it clear until the sewing up stage. Would it be possible to film this again?

    How do you attach this to the bracelet?

  • @Potomacbeadco

    @Potomacbeadco

    You would crimp to the loop, or if a beadweaving bracelet, just thread into the toggle.

    Potomac Bead Company I've used square beads and peyote stitch, I did the toggle clasp just as you did, same type of beads etc, I am just not seeing how to attach it to make it look good...I love the toggle and clasp I made but I am just not seeing how to attach to make it look seamless or good....what am I missing?

  • @Potomacbeadco

    @Potomacbeadco

    Basically when you are at the end of your project, you just take thread covered by some seed beads, and go through the loop on the toggle, then back to your project. Go through again to be sure it is secure, and you are done.

    Potomac Bead Company Thank you so much, I did that and unfortunately when I made the bracelet I was just going to use a button type closure, this toggle made it way to large...I had to remove it....uhhggg, I will make another bracelet to fit it...it is just such a beautiful closure. Thanks for all your help and your tutorials.

    Ok no problem, yes the application does vary, as toggles will tend to be larger, and often work best if used as more of a statement piece.

    Not a fan of this... I guess I need to see it on a finished project. All I can visualize is a HUGE toggle/loop on the end of a bead project that would not look too great... but I could be wrong.

    They can actually be made pretty small, and when we do it, we usually make them to match the project.
