    I've been doing this stitch for yeeeeeears and had no idea what it was called. I like that fact that you use a paper tube, I can start it without the paper tube, but I can see how much easier it is with the tube! thanks so much!!

    Hi I have been trying to do a tubular rope. I start with 12 beads in a ring then peyote into every other bead which makes a 6 bead around. So far so good the problem now that I have is the tube seems to be very rigid after doing about 2 inches. I haven't do anymore than this because I'm afraid it won't be flexible enough for a necklace. I am using size 11 seed beads and 6lb fireline I have also played with tension but it still remains rigid. Will it start to form a curve eventually if I just carry on ?

    +June Burt Hi June! 6lb FireLine is a great option. I think if you keep going, it will be more flexible. However, if you are still worried about rigidity, try using KO beading thread. That might make it a little more flexible. Shop our selection here: www.artbeads.com/ko-nylon-japanese-beading-thread.html - Becky

    So, do you always need an even number of beads? What if I have a project that I need beads around, and an odd number fit comfortably instead of an even amount? Is there a trick specially for odd numbers of beads?

  • @Crafted_DreamScapes

    @Crafted_DreamScapes

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nevermind, apparently there are two methods, one for even number of beads and one for *ODD* number of beads, the odd number doesn't involve the "step up" method, but also works more in a spiral than an individual row.

  • @ArtbeadsVideos

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hi lucia. You can use a diagram for Cellini spiral to help you with spiraling color. Cellini spiral is a form of tubular peyote stitch where you switch up the size of the beads to create a spiral. You can apply the same idea with switching up the colors. Take a look at this diagram to help you with a spiraling effect in your tubular peyote: cms.artbeads.com/docs/default-source/tutorials/pdfs/abt-20170803-cellini-stitch-diagram.pdf

    I have a bit of a problem. My tubular peyote doesn't really look the way it should. To make it look like yours, I would have to fill the inside of it somehow... Otherwise, it doesn't stay the way it should (some beads go inside too much when I make it tighter or the bracelet flattens if I don't). Do you have any tips for me? Or could it be caused my the thread I am using (it is simple sewing thread)? Thanks for your help!

    ArtbeadsVideos I've tried 12 beads for each row at first, then I decided it to narrow it to 8 and eventually to 6. I am using size 8/0 and 9/0 beads and I got the same results with both. I really have a feeling it could be caused by the thread or I am just somehow doing it wrong.. :/

    Hi again ***** - Leslie uses 10 beads which becomes two rows of five, so you should be fine with how many you are using. Are you using a paper tube or pencil to support the beads while stitching? That can sometimes help. Take a look at this PDF diagram for the stitch if you haven't already: ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/artbeads/HT-2014-tubular-peyote.pdf. That may help. - Becky

You can create a beaded toggle by continuing to stitch on seed beads, or you can use end caps to cover the ends, like we did in this project: www.artbeads.com/pebble-path-tubular-peyote-stitch-bracelet.html.
