1:38 I think people need to remember that body shape plays a part in how certain styles look as well so they shouldn't feel discouraged when you prefer a certain look over the other, or when one way of styling looks better on you.

I would also love this - especially if it’s a business casual aesthetic. I’m trying to recall this now that me and lots of other pandemic work from home types are being finally recalled back to an office setting. Bonus points for adapting this to hot humid weather (Houston here) and double extra points for how to do business casual with stylish sneaker/trainers as that’s my unique dilemma.

All I needed was Gemary to tell me I needed to size up and take the pants in to hit the men's section of the thrift store and treat myself. I get so many more compliments on this outfits than ones where my pants "fit" if you're on the fence- thirft a $5 pair of pants from the men's section, spend $20 on a tailor to take them in and you will be UH-mazed

I'm pretty thick in the thighs, booty, hip region. I'm also short and always feel like my legs look stubby 😂😂 so I was always afraid of wearing loose pants. I thought they'd make me look bigger. But I stole a couple of trousers from my bf and was amazed at how flattering they were! My mom is a seamstress and I'm taking them to her to get cinched at the waist. Thanks so much for the tips 🥰🥰

I completely agree about tailoring. I learned to sew recently and have been altering my oversized clothes to fit me better and it makes all the difference and I've also never felt more confident in my clothes!

I’m in Tampa and your styling is climate friendly. These are good reminders so this is not a boring video!

@@coochicutter1060 I used to work in Armani when I was at University and women used to have the tailor cut our the label when the size was bigger than a S. So sad really....I just need to find a good tailor, they are expensive!! I brought a local tailor 3 skirts and he tried to charge me £70!! I could buy a new outfit with that money.

@@aleyna00 I always remove tags from my clothes. Not to hide my true size though. The stitches holding the tag look ugly. Also, you can see the tag through more sheer fabrics. Just a mild case of OCD 🙈

I'm not sure if sizing up then altering pants would work form me, as my waist isn't very defined and my hips are narrow. However when I was younger I always got pants in the wrong size, too small and often uncomfortable. Also I bought skinny jeans only cause I wasn't aware other cuts actually existed lol. Now I'd much rather get my pants in a larger size, high wasted and relaxed fit, and wear a belt if they sag a little. I got a nice belt which was expensive for me but I'm sure I'll use it forever and it makes my outfits much more interesting! Thanks for all the tips. I really like your stile

I agree 100% about sunglasses as an accessory! I find that it does make my simple outfit look more chic and edgy.

I agree with all of these! I also feel like hair and makeup plays an important role in elevating simple looks. For example, the middle part sleek bun is super in right now so if you style your hair like that no matter how basic your outfit is, you will automatically look trendier and more elevated.

I try to thrift as much of my wardrobe as I can, so it's been taking a while. I'm petite and I've been wanting to try high waisted pants because everyone is like try crop tops but that would be too much belly with mid rise😅 I found some in the women's section and they fit me like a glove and now I'm feeling myself and want some crop tops! I also have a pair of Levi's that are hiding waiting to be altered so this was my reminder

I've said it before and will probably say it again many times.....love love love your style. You are my style guru and love everything in your wardrobe. Wish you were here in NY to take me shopping LOL. Thanks for all your inspiration!

I agree!!! I love that Gemary shares my body type when no other fashion influencers do!! Lately, I just use her videos more as “inspiration,” which is pretty true of all the influencers I watch. The only affordable brands I’m interested in either don’t ship to US (Arket, Weekday) or they’ve changed their aesthetic so dramatically they no longer make new pieces that I like (Everlane).

In case you’re interested in seeing someone else’s take on this sort of topic, check out Elyssa here on KZread. She’s done some videos on how to achieve an aesthetic that’s in harmony with your body shape/style essence. For example, how to wear boyfriend jeans when your body isn’t ‘typical’ for wearing that style of jean or how get a rocker chick look when your body shape leans more towards a sweater set with pearls. I think she has an eloquent way of making you understand why one thing works while another doesn’t when your goal is a certain aesthetic.

I feel like it depends on the quality... High quality ribbed pieces (like the ones at 0:03) look very chic and add texture to an outfit, particularly if they are on the looser side. Bodycon medium-to-low quality ribbed pieces do look a bit cheap, specially if they pill.

I like color so now I change my wardrobe. Before it wasn't colorful and I didn't like it. I am looking for a snake necklace, one piece of jewelery and got it! For the hot summer I like backless dresses if I don't want to show the front 😉 I don't want to buy an expensive bra for them so I probably just have my regualar bra on. Is it too much?
