(my EDM SPEEDWRITING CHEATSHEET)
Props to Edwan for the inspiration to do this, and to Vengeance, Hyperbits and Cymatics for the samples used.
Obviously, to make a finished track takes much longer than 5 minutes (!), but getting the basics down quickly is:
a) fun,
b) good practice and
c) forces you to make decisions quickly - one of the hardest things about music production!
DISCLAIMER: Ok, ok…the actual production part of this video lasts for 7 minutes not 5 - I wanted to delve a little bit deeper into a couple of parts!
In this video we cover:
1. Making a beat and layering samples
2. Writing a chord progression and adding rhythm and interest to it
3. Writing a vocal chop melody line
4. A bit of sound design and mixing
5. A bit of arrangement.
Hope you enjoy! Drop me a comment and let me know what you think 🙂
Until next time - cheers, and happy producing :)

I appreciate that!
Watching you work is extremely helpful. Thanks for this! It's the subtle stuff that makes or breaks the track.

You're welcome! I am glad you found his helpful 🙂
This started off as a very steady guide that a beginner could use but then got too complex. I'll go and watch the other videos for the bass line, beats, chords etc and perhaps when I come back the second half of the video will make more sense in the how to apply it but its great to see what can be done easily once you have the know how
Another awesome and inspiring video, Will!

No, if you can make a drop in 5 minutes why would you need a 20-minute video to do so? :)

Thank you!! ❤️
How did you add rhythm to your chords at 3:41? I also don’t understand how you tapped to get that beat shown underneath your chords. Even more confused with how you transformed those chords into rhythmic ones. Could you please explain and thanks!!

he used a midi controller to tap the rhythm on a single note an octave below.... Then he created chord patterns by using the midi notes below so that they where in same rhythm... Hope I made sense to you...
Good Stuff!!

I enjoy your videos but I felt the point this one was kind of lost. Was it to produce a drop as fast as you can or really take the time to show us how to do one? If it was the latter, I felt like it missed the mark in really explaining it well.
Considering that a drop is simply a rhythm change you dont need 5 minutes to do it :) but fair, some drops are not like the others
How to signed spinnin Records in 5 minutes 😂🙃?
In trance you do not need any drops. You just need a good composition.
wow... just wow (*o*)
