A couple of table saw tips: It is okay to cut aluminum with a wood cutting blade. Picture frame shops do it all the time with metal frames. Use a mixture of soapy water to lube the blade a bit and make the cutting easier and not wear the blade as much. Also, when cutting the rounded edges off the 2 x 4, it is safer to have the piece you keep be between the fence and the blade.

Very Nice looking panel although aluminum don't rust but it does corrode.
Excellent!

Iron Gordon - Art Excited to see it 🤘🏻 I’m painting my first motorcycle, just the front fairing. And it’s been a struggle too. Had to redo it 3 times now, not my fault, bad primer 😉. I’ll have a video on it as well if I ever get it done 😂 PS- the best quality and value for airbrushes I have found to be the GSI Creos brand. If u check out my last video, Spraygunner unboxing, I have links in the description to the 3 GSI Creos’ that I have and highly recommend.
Good work. Thanks for the video.

The salt trick has been used by model makers and miniature railway fans for decades.
Awesome work, big fan of the old air plane art. Would recommend maybe using pallet wood on the frame next time since it would already be distressed.

Thanks! Yeah having some creative space is so helpful. I can start a project and walk away from it while it drys without having to put it away
A method I like for built holes is similar but I like to do it after it's painted so the paint chips around the hole also if you have the equipment and live in the right area you can just make real built holes
your art is cool love it

Hey Luis! thanks
Another ultra creative piece described in a well produced video, Gordon! I’ve enjoyed using some of your tips in my COVID19 projects. Masking is somewhat challenging, as you really need to think it through carefully, but I’m enjoying the learning process. I’ll email a couple photos when my projects are finished, and a guitar body as soon as I can get gigging again ( looks like july😟).

Hey great video, thanks for the salt trick, I’ve never see that before and cool process on distressing. Did I miss why you cut the channel on the outside of your frame? Maybe on a test sometime on one of your next ones rivets would look authentic too I 2nd James Lilly about having your work piece in between the blade and the fence, but your project looks awesome. I know you’re not asking for suggestions but I also agree with the pallet wood suggestion, and if you could look for one that had some kind of ink stamp like many do, or a shipping crate stamp, wow that would put this already excellent project over the top. Keep it up.
Amazing project! I would like to know where to get the 3m masking roll. Thank you and great video
i can fraw but i perfer my shilouette cameo vinyl cutter to make my paulint masks. works great.
Please upload more projects!
That looks awesome! Going to give it a try as I am an aviation buff and some panels like that would look great in my workshop. Just something to note, aircraft are made of aluminum, aluminum doesn't rust. Also, you would have been right to use the stencil for the bombs as thats how they did them in the field when putting on kill and bomb markings and they never looked perfect.

He said in the Q&A at the end that he knows aluminum doesn't rust, but thinks it looks cooler than corrosion.

Thank You! I defiantly want to make some different variations of nose art panels. Yeah the aluminum rusting/weathering is a stretch I just like the way it looks The stencil thing is a good point, I wanted the layout to look more intentional and the lines to be crisp. Thanks for watching, good luck with your projects!
The only thing is that the planes were made of aluminum, not steel so it would not rust brown and red/ orange if at all
Always gott have pepper with the salt. Now....do you put that salt back in your shakers before diner?

Any ideas on how to get panel line without table saw?
How long did you wait between paint and covering that paint with masking paper? I just tried a similar project thinking plasti dip would work. It did not. Even though the masking paper isn't very sticky, it pulled the plasti dip up. Trying to find out a safe time to apply and remove masking paper to paint without damaging the fresh paint. Thanks, and great job!
You placed a dado around the outside of the frame. What was it for?
looks great... An idea... what if you turned it 90 degrees before "weathering it" since when we fly the streaks would be that way
@IronGordon

Good call! The thinking behind the drips is more of the aesthetic that the plane has been sitting, not being used.

Iron Gordon - Art amazing work!
Definitely need better nose art, not saying at all that this is bad. It damn great. However, the shark teeth and bomb type thing is over done by pretty much everyone. Maybe “Detroit miss,” or something similar would be cool. Definitely gonna try this with different planes.
wouldn't it be more fun to shoot the panel for the bullet holes? Like have real ones?
What was the thickness of the aluminium?
Found your channel in the Grand Canyon visitor center bathroom😂

The allies thought that a shark's mouth on the front of an airplane would scale the enemy into surrerndering. it didn't work too well.

I know about artistic license, but the "rivets" should be flush and not domed.
Mouth and eye not worn to the same degree as background. Aluminum does not rust.. No debris dings on the aluminum panel, all give-aways that scream phony. There are other items..otherwise ok.
