How to Make a Wood Keepsake Box

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

You can make a beautiful wood keepsake or jewelry box without making it overly complicated or using advanced woodworking techniques. I made a clean, modern wood box for drawing pencils floating around the shop, but this box project may look better as a jewelry box sitting on a nightstand or a display item on a coffee table. I really like the project’s ability to be customized. You could add a handle or knob to the front, change the size, or add legs. I used sycamore and ebony for my keepsake box, but it will look good with just about any wood species.

Thumbs up for the Staedtler 925 pens! The best mechanical pencil indeed. Oh, the box is beautiful, too. 😂

Bourbon Moth just has a tips and tricks video where he 'destroys' a chisel by turning it in a card scraper type implement specifically for glue clean up. Might help in the future?

I saw that as well … thing he failed to report was you have to use the barnish rod for a while on the chisel

I made a wooden block with an old hand plane blade attached in such a manner that it is perfect for scraping glue out of corners. Sharpen the plane iron enough and it will easily remove even dry glue. I also took an old spade bit and flattened and sharpened the end and put a handle on it. Works good to remove glue in deep holes.

Nice box. 👍 I like small projects like this. As for pencils, what you do is get more, and more, and more. Until the space is supersaturated with pencils so that if one gets lost then another has to pop out to make room for it.
