Building a Maple Box then a Special Trick to Make It POP!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I made an heirloom quality wood box and it was kind of stupid easy to build! I broke it down into a series of small steps. It starts with the basic concept of a box. Add a few curves to give it a graceful appearance. Contrasting legs really give it something extra and make the wood in the body of the box stand out. The lid looks pretty fancy, but it’s really only a few cuts, and it really brings the whole box to life. But the real kicker is the wood grain in the maple. I made the grain really pop by dying it before applying finish. It’s a super cool technique that I highly recommend you try out.

Definitely with the handle !
I make a lot of boxes and now you have gifting me a way to think outside the box. Sorry just had to say that. Thank you so much. Julien.
Are you some kind of Genius? Love everything about it. The handle is dope, must have.
That’s beautiful. I love when a plan comes together.
Absolutely beautiful piece, thanks for sharing.
I love building boxes that one is a really beautiful box. Thank you for sharing it with us all !
Like the handle a lot. I feel like it helps break the maple lid up some. I'm getting back into woodworking after finding so many ideas on YT. Just picked me up a bandsaw and pieces of an oak tree that was cut down.
So many ideas in one video. Thanks!
Beautiful box. Love the maple and wedge. Thanks
Absolutely gorgeous
Definitely the handle! Beautiful box!
Stunning build.
Beautiful job!!!
Two things that are awesome here, the tip about cleaning up the glue and the esthetic of the box. I am going to make this box for a Christmas present for my sister. Hey, that will check a box off for me.
That is lovely. Your lesson did a good job breaking it down into helpful steps to build one. The handle was a definite thumbs up.

Handle is perfect !

Absolutely love your channel!!! Your explanations are so easy to understand and your projects are beautiful!! Definitely handle!! Thank you.
The possibilities are endless and I have made a few similar I really like it

There were so many choices and I don't think I could have gone wrong with most of them.
great vid and I personally think the handle finishes it off perfectly. great job.
Handle! Beautiful box. Well done.
Perfect!!! I’m makin’ 6 of ‘em. That dye trick is what has been separating my “nice” finished projects from the spectacular ones in the plan photos. I have always loved the Asian esthetic, and this box, with the curved side bottoms, those leg shapes and then the handle honors it so well. The handle is the cherry on top of the sundae. Am I gushing? Yeah…so???
Great classy spin on a basic project! Thank you!

Great looking box the dye really set off
Handle 👍 Very nice 👏
Great vid. Awesome box!
That's a gorgeous box! Well done, sir. Well done.
Inspiring design beautifully made and finished. I would have used clear lacquer on the maple, but your finish brings out the grain. I shall make one in sycamore and walnut as I have both.
The extra effort to make and install the handle is quite worth it IMO. It just setts off the box! Nicely done!!
Excellent video Billy! I sure appreciate you offering templates! I will be trying some of them. This is a beautiful box that anyone would love as a gift. I need to go back and watch again to find out the free software for making templates.
Beautiful box!! I love your style of presenting. It is educational to newbies like me without being condescending and it also shows great projects that do not require every whiz bang tool there is. Thanks for everything!!

The goal is to show my journey, what I'm doing, and why, with the hopes that it may help others. Maybe they learn something they want to do. Maybe they learn what not to do.
Handle. Beautiful

That little bit of dye really gives the box that extra pop! Thanks for watching!
Came out awesome! I’m new to the page, but one aspect that I hope some people notice is that you have a few solid hand planes, and that’s it (and I feel is all you need). There are lots of pages that have a ton of planes, when there are only some core tools that you need to get rolling. Love it all!
Just found your channel and started watching your videos, really like how to go through the steps to explain your process, learned a lot by watching. Thanks and keep of the great work.
Very Nice!
Handle for sure. Looks great!
Man that is so beautiful. I love it and definitely would have put a handle on it. Great job!
Awesome video. Love this build.
Handle! Very good job.
It looks great !.I've been thinking on making a nice box for my daughter in law, and this one ....oh man...! You nailed! !.it will be just like the one you made. Thank you so much.
Handle adds to the looks👍
I thought it was crazy when you said you were gonna dye it but i had stain in my brain and not dye, let alone thinned dye. Boy, did it ever come out nicely. Well done. Makes me itchy to try something similar.
this is super awesome - great work and video !
I LOVE the graceful curves!!

You do awesome work, very nice
I used to get inspired. Now i just get frustrated. My boxes suck. I think from now on I'm gonna cover my old sneaker boxes in wood pattern sticky vinyl. When someone goes to touch it, I'll yell out "DON'T TOUCH THAT IT'S REALLY REALLY OLD AND EXPENSIVE!!" Love the vids, thanks for making them.
Beautiful Box... And my opinion, WITH a handle . Good job! beautiful work
Handle all the way!! Nice build!
Handle. Keeps the fingerprints off the lid. Beautiful piece!
handle for sure, very nice box

Amazing. 😍
good job. I like the handle.
Nice box, I really like the legs. Going to attempt something similar I love box making as well
That box is probably one of my favourites. I've already made a "test" one out of pine, and it looked great. Next is Huon Pine and Blackwook
