Hi guys !, I just recently installed a vanity and sink kit with the drain, well, the instructions say not to use plumbers putty, but to install a neoprene thin gasket that replaced the plumbers putty between the ring on the drain tube and the surface of the sink, tightened everything up and there were no leaks!, great video!!

What a great series, start to finish and long videos with quick upload time between them. Love how you guys not only admit when you make a mistake (as we all do from time to time) but you turn it into a learning moment. It's going to be great to see the new construction continue on the US mainland, but this was one of the best series of home improvement I've seen, two thumbs way up for the whole team, those on camera and those working behind the scenes.

I did this in one of my own shower remodels and it's so worth it. Less issues with water stains and corrosion on the fixture. Plus you can reach in and turn on the water without getting blasted with cold water.

  • @Interknetz

@@Vintagebleu So true. Thankfully we just have a flexi-hose one that you can dismount from the wall which makes it easier to not get cold water on you (bad for me cause my feet will get stupidly cold but thats another story...) Pretty awful design though when they have the shower controls in a place where you're gonna get wet, even hot tap can be cold initially of course!

You guys showing all the "screw ups" whether your fault or not are worth more than any video showing perfection the whole way. I always get so discouraged when things don't go just right thinking I screwed up. But when I see that even the pros have bad days, again their own fault or not, it is reassuring that I am as capable as I think I am.

I would caulk around the entire hole on that vessel sink. It prevents splash water on the vanity from running under the cabinet. I also usually caulk the edge. This sort of depends on the sink, some look better without it

I did this with my bathroom vanity, except I didn't cut the vanity. I cut half of the studs out but left the bottom plate in the wall. Then added wood underneath the vanity to raise the vanity even with the bottom plate. They sell cool looking wood vanity tops that you have to cut holes and size yourself at home depot. Then I just bought a bowl sink and separate long faucet.

Excellent job with many useful tips that only experience may yield. As for the issue with the "D ring gasket", I thought about trying to using a fast dry gasket maker which, as you've seen, spreads like caulking or "PC 11" marine epoxy, which can dry under water. Being able to think outside the box, is, as you've seen, essential to winning and your team are all winners. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for communication, capacity, in following threw on issues some contractors miss such as use of "redgard", for added protection against water seepage, on that backer board. I think if the client would have wanted it, I'd have redone the door frame to either make it smaller or move it six inches over, if it was possible, without making more work then was needed.

That's a dramatic transformation...great work, too. A nice family vacation and an excellent way to keep us entertained while waiting on everything to be ready in TX. Can't wait to see the new garage rising from that beautiful, hard-earned new concrete!
