If you´re on Resolve 17, try selecting all in Trim mode, then (*this is the important part*) tap the "U" key two or three times until you see the end of the clips gets selected then do the trick. This is because it either has to be all ripple trims (on either side of the cut) or all rolling edits. But not a mix of rolling edits and ripple edits.

Quite an important point if you're trying to follow along Casey's tutorial. I spent a long time trying to work out what I was doing wrong, I'm glad you found the workaround.

This is exactly what I need - today! You're always delivering great content. Thanks Casey.
Just discovered Casey and I will say that the videos are well done, clear and informative. I will be referring to your video series over and over again for tutorials and pointers. Thank you for your videos.
I had to stop mid video to thank you for the bonus tip of "selection follows playhead" . You have made my editing experience so much better with that! Thank you!
You have such a calm and genuine laugh! It makes me happy. 💗
You just saved me 2 days of editing, sincere thanks for this, keep them coming please.
That trim edit technique to lengthen or shorten the pics and add cross fades is awesome. Wish I knew that this weekend.... Thanks Casey! An adjustment clip can be used across multiple photos to zoom in (good if using 4X3 photos on a 16:9 video)
You were unusually funny today, and as always great tips (even if i happened to know them all already)
Top video again Casey! Many Many thanks! Got the basics sorted so now to try incorporating some fusion tricks into the slideshow.
I enjoy your comedic wit as you help us along this journey. That train had great timing too!
Wow, I learned so much but also I just love this? Easily the most amusing and quality tutorial I've watched so far. Keep on keepin' on cat guy
might seem boring to you, but Im learning the basics of DavRes thanks to tutorials such as this one. so please remember to always include some really basic stuff for people like me😊. and now im going to watch the rest of the video🙂
That fancy trick you show us. Trimming the length of them all at the same time. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You just saved me so much time.
OMG.. that had to be the overall FUNNIEST tutorial I have ever watched. Wicked!! Love your sense of humor and delivery. You are a gem. Oh.. and thanks for the info. :)
Selection follows play head. OMFG! This is the equivalent of GPS navigation for cars, but like for people who hack around in Resolve. You are literally changing my world sir.
YOU ARE AWESOME (and a lifesaver, just gonna make me a slideshow I needed...) THANK YOU!
Casey your humour is the best, never change!
Made my first slideshow of my friend’s new huge milling machine stills. Intro title, nothing else. I watched this to see if there was anything easy to add, and there sure was. Selection follows playhead and dynamic zoom were great tips. Thanks!
Ahhh! Thank you! I needed this lol
I'm watching this because I need to make slideshow for my mom 😂

Hitting that Bell icon was one of the best things one can do to your fav content creators! With so much shitshow out there and the world's ending, it feels wholesome when you get notified for a new video and you actually learn very useful skills while being entertained - by Casey in this case🤘🏽😁! Thank you kind, Sir 👍🏽🎉
Transform viewer!?! Why did I just learn about this now?? OMG, that tip alone will make my life SO MUCH EASIER editing my photography vlog. Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Oh, and clean that coffee cup! hahaha!

Thank you very much this is exactly what I needed!
SO FREAKING FANCY! wish I knew this before) thanx!
Dear Casey! Please help me a little: I refresh to DaVinchi Resolve 17. I would like to set the pictures during time from 5 sec to 9 sec. I select all pictures (14 pieces) then I press Trim edit mode but after that only on the first does the time change to 9 seconds... In Resolve 16 worked perfectly. What sould I do to make all pictures at once to 9 sec long? Thank you!
@W0KNI

Ya they changed that in 17. Just select them all then press CTRL-D to change the Duration. Your change will effect all the clips you have selected.

Thank you @Stephen Payne - W0KNI, for me this works only when there is enough space between the clips, though. Otherwise only the first clips get longer.

If you've *shortened* the clips via ^D and just want to deal with the scattered gaps, use "Edit"->"Delete Gaps"
You're my hero Casey!
Stills have always been an issue at least for me, and that goes back to around 2002 when I got more into video coming from years and years of PowerPoint shows. My own demo reels get bogged down because some of my more attractive examples are only available on stills or I want to show photography projects, not just video clips. Resolve is definitely making the process more bearable and imaginative.
You are THE best DR Tuber!!! You could be my HERO!!!
You are 4 days late Casey. 4 days ago my friend asked for help to create a similar slideshow of photos for his daughter's school project. I am a Resolve Newbie and struggled like hell. I had to apply that dynamic zoom Individually by putting on key frames on each photo clip, and for some reason I struggled with it due to clips being together. So I created multiple video tracks and did it. In the end, it turned out well.... Thanks for Making the process so easy now.
"But Casers...we want cross-dissolve" followed the laugh....we fan completely lost it laughing off our chair! LOL!!!!! 5 stars on that one! :)
I've been cramming in your tutorial for a few weeks so I can make training videos for work and there's just so many tools in Resolve. It's worth watching these because you have little tips and tricks hidden throughout, like at 3:23. Man, if I would have known that a week ago haha
thanks just downloaded the program.and i want to try this first
Thanks Bros. You pointed out what I'm trying to find out.
Thanks for your videos! They're really helpfull to get used to Davinci Resolve. But could you help me with this: I have music (with an irregular beat), and I want to place the pictures automatically to the beat. I used markers to identify the beat. Is it possible to place all my pictures at once to the markers (in Davinci Resolve 17)?
Thank you Casey, very useful and clear! ... by the way your singing skills are just WOW 😂
Love your videos Casey. When in resolve for iPad how would you click on “selection follows playhead?” I loved that feature!
Thanks! Helped a lot. Mass application with choosen favourite transition effect = ctrlT - I searched for - really. Thanks
This is just as useful and timely as it is funny. Thanks.
TIME SAVING VIDEO THANK YOU!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic!
the best way to learn davichi i ever met ! thanks man!
this is what i was looking for..thanks brother
So funny Casey! "I could be your hero...." lol!
First 30 seconds is exactly the situation I find myself in! Even Indian Dads are exactly the same! Thanks Casey!
Good video. The 'tash rules, btw. I use Resolve currently, and Premiere Pro before that... however, nothing seems to be able to come close to Encore's 'random pan and zoom.' This was amazing for dynamic slideshows. The only real way to (sort of) replicate this is via Fusion, and it's a mission to do when there are a lot of images.
LOL!!! your one fhunny dude fella!!! I watch tutorials all day and it's nice to have a laugh whilst working, and you have the same warped sense of humour as me...haha...great work!! 🤣🤣
We are now in the era of Version 18.6. I passed on viewing old instructional videos based on my assumption, but I was told a great discovery. Thank you Professor (God) Casey. 🥰🥰🥰
holy sh@t you're my twin! thanks for the tips I've been putting off making a slide show for someone this video motivated me to start, finally I'll be someone's hero.
Thanks. Very helpful!
Is there no option to automatically adjust/trim/crop fit to 16x9 proportions, adjusting the width of all slides to the width of the frame like in Vegas?
so fuuuny today! keep going on! nice video! 😄
"like any reasonable human being I have a ton of pictures of cats" haha that hit home and incited me to quickly tell you I love your videos and tutorials, you make Davinci learning fun and are my first go-to channel when I have someting I need to know! Also your voice is somehow perfect ngl, it's very enjoyable to listen to so thanks for your entertaining videos and effort! :)
Love it!!!! More personality 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻!!! I loved you videos already anyway, but this one is funny!🤣
This is truly a great video
Thanks bro, very simple but informative, plus youre funny af, Im a fan of you now bro lmaoo
Some real cool tips and I enjoyed your cat song!
Hi Casey, does clicking CTRL T only give you the crossfade transition? What if we would like to choose a different transition?
Totally agree! Some people think when you know how to edit videos, making slideshows pretty easy. But it's really frustrating 🤣🤣
Uhm, the beginning of this video is gold. And too accurate for comfort.
Had to stop watching because your singing brought tears to my eyes and I couldno longer see the video?! You are so funny Casey! Thank you for your entertaining Davinci Resolve training. 😂👍
Love your videos!!! LOL
Entertaining and informative. Good video.
R.I.P. Zip Disks ;) Thanks for the video Casey - really appreciate the time and effort (and humor of course)!
Awesome man. Funny also... subscribed!
You are pumping out the videos like nobody's business. I can hardly keep up. But don't stop I'll manage. :)
Please please show us how to make the Ken Burns effect on Davinci Resolve. Been wanting to make short documentaries with some of my photos and you give great tutorials.
Pretty funny video. Hey, what if i wanted to add in some video clips in between some of the photos? Do I follow the same method? Will the dynamic zoom go in/out on my videos as well? Help...
Do you have a tut on how to take a video amd go from full screen to moving it in the corner of the screen then have a slideshow or images full screen with the video playing in the corner? Like a screencapture video? Obviously im new to this its probably very simple. Thanks for your detailed instructions for newbs like me.
@2:30 after selecting all clips, as Soon as I click on the 1st clip to adjust length it deselects *ALL* of the clips except the first one and the effect is only applied to it .. . . so frustrating . . . what am I doing wrong?

🙋♂️Need that mp3 of you singing asap! Lol. Another great video! 👏👏👍I knew how to do these tips individually, but by grouping them, it's a time saver for sure!!🙏❤ BTW, you're hilarious!!😂🤣
Thanks dude!
Thank you! I'm making an 80th birthday slideshow for my grandma
thanks this helps a lot
From time to time I have to watch this video again, it should be possible to give multiple thumbs up.
Hello from Ireland , Love your personality ..... yes i come for the tips .... i stay for your personality :)
Most fun tutorial ever!!! 😂🤣The cat song, 😂
Okay, you earned a sub with that intro. I'm literally in this situation right now and my phone was obviously listening in because this was in my recommended section 😂
This was great! Loll! Thanks for the laughs!
Love this :))))
Super easy, super good vid! Nice and funny
The song makes watching this for no reason worth it
ha-ha! so humors and instructive. Wasn't boring that's for sure.
Thanks this was great, and you are hilarious!
great video, thankyou very much!
Wow I can't believe you actually got Ken Burns to sing for your video!
At 2.29 while dragging - are you pressing CTRL also, because when I am dragging only one image extends, although all are selected as per first step.
ahhh you make me laugh - completely bonkers - love your tutes btw
Does trim edit mode also work with DR17 Beta on M1 Apple? not at my place.
very nice video, used to do slides shows in AE about 10 years and it hard remembering everything I used to do using zoom, rotating and occasionally fly through a picture. trying to learn Davinci as i cannot afford AE. do you have any advance videos dedicated to slides shows? btw please stay with training videos as you will not make it as a professional singer.
Did you schedule that train? So, happy that I can learn from such a masterfully lucky teacher!
casey is it possible to add the photo number as a overlay when making a slide show so when you add a photo the data is on show
How can I do this in fusion with two different animations. One coming in from the right, one coming in from the left and rotating while getting a frame, made slightly smaller over the same picture blurred for a background. Currently I have to apply this to each individual clip. Is there a way I can script this for 200-300 pictures and just pull each one into fusion as median1 doing one clip/photo after another. And further if I can do that, is it possible to apply my animations back and forth between right and left animations ...every other picture with a script? Basically I"m trying to drag and drop 200-500 photos onto the timeline then automate the fusion animation. All pics start out the same size, but have different names, although I could rename to a sequence number if necessary). sorry to be so long, I've been working on this almost daily for a month with very little progress. I'd appreciate anyone's assistance.
Trying to follow this but is not working for adjusting the clip length. Have them all selected and green at the ends but as soon as I pick to drag the first one it only adjusts that one. Using Davinci 18.5. Is there a key that needs to be held when doing this?
Saved my life Ty. Wording might be problematic but I've no time to care
Thanks!
Thank you very much
