How to make ● a simple SODA BOTTLE HUMANE MOUSETRAP (that works!)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is another of my best and easiest homemade humane mouse traps!. Easy to build, easy to bait, easy to release and best of all, it's humane and there's no springs or levers to wind up or load! The mouse or vole cannot escape or chew his way out of this mouse trap. Mice are not harmed in any way during capture. As a matter of fact, the mouse and vole remain very calm as you'll see in the video since there is no slamming doors or snapping latches to scare him! Mice can be released calmly and easily without fear of getting bitten even by the most "fearful of mice" person!! Simple operation makes this diy mouse vole trap fun and easy to build and adjust for easy trapping and best of all easy release. Just use a dab of peanut butter to bait the trap. It's the best do it yourself humane live release mouse vole trap you'll find! A cola, pop or soda bottle and a few other common items is all you'll need. I'll be building a humane squirrel trap next so you can capture and release squirrels easily too so subscribe and don't miss my upcoming "diy humane squirrel trap". Thanks for watching.

Brilliant, I'll try it on my Mother -in-Law. Trying to get here out of my house for years.

I found that there is no need to drill any holes at all! Wood screws screw right into the wood and if you heat the paper clips they slide right through the plastic lid and the same for the clothes hanger piece, it can be heated and melts right through the bottle. It was easier for me than breaking out the drill and cut construction time to less than 10 minutes. Also, alternatively to using a clothes pin I used a paper clasp. Same concept but more available since I didn't have a clothes pin. Those are my tweaks to this design. :)
I just saw the most horrible thing on a homemade electric mouse trap video... it took forever for the animal to die. If it wasn't sad enough, the comments under there enraged me! I don't understand that need for cruelty. So... I'm grateful there's people like you around sharing creative and harmless ways to solve that same problem. Thanks.
Of all the DIY mouse traps this one is most awesome, simple and really humane one. I was actually able to build one and it worked flawlessly. Thanks.

Thanks for the excellent design and sharing the video. I built my own and tried this out: Night 1: the mouse took the bait, but then chewed through the base of the plastic bottle to escape! Night 2:I used a tougher plastic bottle and reinforced the base with a piece of round tupperware that fortunately fitted tightly around it. The mouse took the bait but then managed to escape back through the entrance, as the cap wasn't held in place firmly enough. Perhaps my coat hanger was not of good enough quality! Night 3: With a reinforced bottle and a reinforced cap (I stacked some weights behind it) I trapped the mouse and released it to some fields a couple of miles away!
I actually like this! This might be a neat trap to have a cub scout troop build for fun.

I was a cub leader years ago and yes, this would be a great thing for them to build.
Simple, humane, and elegant. I've tried others but for me this is the best. Thanks.

Ctrl, it wasn't dying. I'm sure he would have let it out before the squirrel would have died.
A smart, funny, kind man did it.
I recognise your mouse accomplice/collaborator from your previous videos. It won't be long before he's going to wise up and join the actors' union and then its going to cost you.

Beautyful! Simple, clear, and human to the mouse. Would build one if we had mice. I like also your hardware texts (on the paper slip).

Wow I didn't think that mouse would fit through that hole in the bottle. Excellent kind trap!

Rodents usually can fit thru any hole they can get their head into, While I am not very familiar with mice I have pet rats and they are very flexible, Partly due to a collapsible rib cage.
All life matters whether it be great or small and your invention honors that to the letter!

Awesomely made trap Chris, very impressive that mouse was snookered.

great job Chris
awesome simplicity, I have used metal hangers for lots of stuff but I have to hide them from my wife because she will toss them LOL thank you for this project excellent cheers David
1:00 "damnit jimmy what did you do to yourself again. I knew I shouldn't have gone into this"
My cat would chew through the bottle for that tasty mouse.
The best part ever is that the mouse kept on eating happily, not even noticing that it got trapped :D

Amazing! thanks for sharing!:)
Excellent, I have used it, but I added a piece of wire at the end that locks the bottle so it won't move after the mouse gets in. Muy buena trampera te felicitó.
brilliant!!

So simple. So beautiful and resourceful. Do you have any humane traps for voles?
@chrisnotap
3 жыл бұрын
We do not have voles in our area. If we did, I would definitely have a trap for it!
I prefer the glue boards. That takes care of them once & for all so there's no danger of them coming back in or breeding. How cute is a mouse that carries the deadly Hantavirus?
Respect!
adorable
Aww it’s so cute
Cool!.
nice

It's very creative :D
lol he cant defy gravity.u r very creative amazing
thats genius
I built this mouse trap and caught the mouse in our house on the first night! It is a little bit tricky to get the bottle cap to set flat against the bottle opening when it is in the "closed" position, but that might have something to do with the shape of the bottle I used (a plastic Coke bottle). That is not a complaint, it is just a feature that you have to get right. Anyway, the mouse was healthy and alive, and we released him in a field to live out the rest of his days. Thanks, Chris!

+JohnnyJet62 Glad it worked for you. The cap is a bit fussy but with it being adjustable in all directions makes it a bit easier.

I added to your design by gluing pieces of wood to the base of the 2x4 extending out under the bottle. These were added to keep the apparatus upright if the mouse gets active while in the bottle. On one of these, I added another piece of wood which acts to stabilize the cap. I don't know how to upload a picture of it, so I hope I explained it well...
Omg I'm SOO relieved that he let the mouse goI THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA LET IT SUFFOCATE AND I WAS LIKE, "Awww poor mouse!!!! NUUUUUUUUUUU"
Wow!
good
Im glad you dont kill them, but release them
like your videos, all original and effective. only thing i would do different is put the mouse in my bosses yard.
I needed to tweak the balance, a little square of duct tape worked perfectly.

Yes, or even a penny will work.
Had mice in my walls for years, and when my useless cat died, all the neighborhood cats started coming around. The property was sterilized in six months. My walls, too! Mice, voles, moles, chipmunks, snakes... all gone. (And the skunks ate all our grubs, too.) No hazardous chemicals were needed.

can we trap with a bigger mouth of the bottle coz the mouse here wont fir in this bottle he needs a bigger mouth bottle....
Gracias!! siempre me da pena hacerles daño
"Build a better mouse trap and the world should be knocking at the door", was a apt saying now you have satisfied the human race , onward and upward.
nice trap but why turn it loose so it can come back I think you should mark the mouse and see how many times you catch it
gracias por liberarla por un momento pensé que la lastimaría
Excellent !!! and I bet it's scalable for larger rodents :)
👨💻YOU COULD Paint NASA 🚀 on the bottle & a Sign 📓 Mouse wanted 👍😆🥇Apply within > 🍾 OH if i could be bothered be a lol

Can mice not chew through a plastic bottle?
@chrisnotap
3 жыл бұрын
Yes they can.....but they need an edge to start. There is no edges for them to start to chew inside of these bottles.
Does this trap work for all mice? Or are all mine the same size?
