How to make a simple cross cut sled for your table saw - DIY

In my opinion a cross cut sled is the first thing one must make for his / her table saw. It is really useful in many woodworking situations.
Tools and materials I propose:
Table saw: amzn.to/2RBf0nT
Cordless drill: amzn.to/2A6fTOy
Countersink bits: amzn.to/2Exkv2G
Air compressor, nail and staple gun kit: amzn.to/2NMPCIH
Block plane: amzn.to/2RLiAMf
Chisel set: amzn.to/2pILO1B
Flush trim saw: amzn.to/2PnkoJM
Heat gun: amzn.to/2Eg4Qok
Precision Square / 90 degree angle: amzn.to/2EKq11r

@@paulcarmody7529 And many also make their "simple" video 30 or 40 minutes long. There are many things that can be done to make a simple sled more useful, and less simple, but this guy nailed simple and, thankfully, short on the video.

@dalepres1 exactly. I've been watching lots of sled making videos for 2 mo, most of those "simple" sleds require tracks, stops, planers, sanding belts, routers and many more tools, and it becomes a huge project. I'm not a carpenter, I'm not going to use it to build a house, I just need to crosscut couple pieces of wood.

Having checked out numerous KZread videos for ‘ simple cross cut table saw sled’ most if not all were so totally over complicated, over engineered just for a knocked together cutting jig. It is not cabinet making just simple joinery and yours is absolutely the best. No unnecessary chat, no stupid back to front caps, no background music ( why the need ?) . Excellent video and a lesson to the other would be makers out there

I get that not everyone is concerned about kickback and losing fingers because they feel they have the skill to never make a mistake, but even with that confidence, why not use a riving knife? As far as I know, it'll never interfere with a cut and can only help prevent kickback.

My table saw is a ryobi and I’m guessing it’s a small one cause I only have one track. How can I make a cross cut sled

Nice guid! Building myself one atm! One question, is there some disadvantages by making the rails a little bit higher? so the sled is just abow the table saw for less friction? Sawdust get trapped under there maybe?

Maybe. And also you lose some height from the cutting capacity of the blade
