How To Make a Robot Pipe Lamp - DIY

How to make an industrial robot pipe lamp
In this video I show how to make an industrial robot lamp from galvanized pipe fittings. This is a very simple and easy project. I used an old desk lamp for the head of the robot. I added a multi-colored LED bulb to give it a little color and character. This little Steampunk robot can be made in one evening with very few tools. I think I may add a base later because it’s a little top-heavy.

I want to thank you for posting this awesome video, as it gave me the inspiration to reproduce the lamp as a gift for my grandson’s Birthday. He loves it and gets mad when it’s time to turn it off for bedtime! I did mount it to a base and incorporated a dimmer switch, to use a normal led bulb. And the vacuum trick worked like a charm! Thanks again!

I learned that trick from an electrician. He would use the vacuum to pull the string through conduit and then pull the larger pull rope with the string and finally pull the wire with the pull rope.

  • @Makebuildmodify

That depends on the cost of the pipe fitting at the time of purchase. When I build this lamp it was about $100.00 in parts.

This is a really cool idea, but exposed metal piping that's not earthed is a death trap. You are one loose wire away from grabbing the thing and being unable to let go.
