How To Make A Portable Motion Detecting Alarm(PIR)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Learn how to make a super compact, very loud, passive infrared(PIR) motion alarm. This alarm has up to a 30 foot detection range, and only draws 20-25ma from a 9V battery. Ideal for all indoor uses, or outdoor before sunrise or after sundown. This video shows exactly what you need, how to put it together, and you'll also see a demonstration. Enjoy!

Nicely done! About a year and a half ago I built something similar but instead of using a buzzer I used an RS recording module. That required me to do some level translation because the module needed a 9v supply. I ended up using a BS170 NCHAN MOSFET to drive a 6N137 opto-isolator. My original intent for the device was for it to discourage our cat from leaping onto the table. When detecting motion it would yell, "Intruder Alert" and flash a jumbo red LED. Unfortunately our cat thought it was a toy and proceeded to constantly trigger it. She outsmarted me again! :-D

NO problem...... it makes so much difference when everything is clearly labelled ..... are you a teacher by any chance? There are a few good ones out there now but this is VERY detailed/helpful and just the right pace. FWIW I'm trying to link up PIR(s) (motion detectors?) with cameras for wild life monitoring (again FWIW there are hundreds of out of date digi cams out there .......... if some one knew a simple connection with your motion detector that would go well too I think)

They failed because of increasing competition when for a long time they were the only ones on the block. Many of us rode our bikes to the store just to get a book. That is where they failed. Stopped being the leader in the mentor role. Tandy University could have been their place. Future technicians and electrical engineers. They had the books, but kept selling stuff to a market that had just as much access if not more. That they had. It is a shame. However that is life and that is the movement of the Capitalist system. You fail someone will fill that void. Case in point cars replaced horses and buggies and buggy whips. It is just the way it is. And thank goodness. I like indoor plumbing and air conditioning and with the crazy Ohio -19 degree winters I so... appreciate central heat and my insulated and heated garage. THANK YOU GOD! With that said I am a part of the Radio Shack crowd my library has many of their books.... Oh, lastly it is because of Radio Shack I was introduced to the 555 timer through the engineer's notebooks I used and LED with its own housing to be strobes for my model airplanes and my sci-fy models from Star Wars. No one else at the time was doing it. Oh, I also put in micro switches into those handheld and football games and baseball games in the late '70s and early '80s so the could run silent in school. I got $5 bucks a whack plus parts for doing that. I must have made on average $125 every two weeks and I was only 13. Never got in trouble either...

I am looking for info on adapting an expired smoke alarm with an old computer mouse (for the infrared detection) but haven't got a clue how to combine both. Also, was thinking How to adjust it so alarm/piezo only goes off for say 10 secs. If you can help me with a resolution I would be very grateful. P. S. I already made a simple bath water alarm with the old smoke detector - by soldering a two - wire computer connector to it And just dangling the plastic connector end a certain depth into Bath when running it, then turning off and shaking the plastic end when alarm sounds., so thought it could possibly be adapted to make a fox deterrent for the garden. What do you think? Thanks for sharing your video.

THANK YOU awesome video, i've been comparing motion sensors and this unit is more sensitive, lasts longer, and has a wider field of view than most of the commercial units that you buy off the shelf that eat AA batteries like it's going out of fashion. I will be using a regulated 12v power supply, which in turn trickle charges 3 x 12V 7Ah connected in parallel , which i use for our LED lighting, router and 2 way radio when power goes off here. One question will i still need the Zener voltage regulator if I'm using 12v instead of 9v. I know some of these boards have their own regulator built in , does this one? I've ordered an extra board just to test and see, if it goes I'll revert back to 9v, if, not I'll keep you posted. THANKS again for the awesome videos. Liked, and Shared

Nice easy and ingenious project congratulations ! Therefore what modifications should i make to reuse a professional pir (as aritech, risco, pyronix, visonic and so on) instead of using this cheap module ? Indeed those professional sensors are much more reliable and stable than this "toy"... I have to confess you i am the most stupid nebee in electronics :-( Anyway thanks in advance for your kindness. Tried remaking this circuit in TinkerCAD. Won't work. The Zener diode is reading 4.67V and when I trigger the PIR it starts fluctuating between 4.67 and 2.67V but the Piezo won't make noise. Tried replacing it with an LED, still won't work. Not sure what to try next

@@electronicsNmore so I got it to work after some tests. I had to drop the resistor to 100 ohms. 200 ohms was causing the voltage to drop too low so the Piezo couldn't function. Guessing the Piezo in the program isn't the same voltage rating.
